Steel Mind, Gold Heart

Wow. You guys have progressed so much from last year! I am very impressed! Your team intro (although not judged) was awesome, it really set the audience up for a good film. And that is what you made, it was a solid and enjoyable watch. The cinematography was good, as was the lighting in the first few scenes. I did notice some editing mistakes, such as the fade-cut as the guy talking, adding a shot of something else here would have stopped this awkward transition, look up the 30 degree rule. Your story and script was pretty good and was funny enough to get quite a few laughs. Good work guys, keep it up! And try not to get DQ'd next year!

The End

This was a very nice looking film. Excellent cinematography was to a very high standard and light was used very well in some of the chase shots. Visually this film was really very good, but unfortunately it was let down by a few key elements. The choice of music was pretty good and did help add to the intended atmosphere, but the cuts in the music were very sharp and jarring which detracted from the experience. A bit of mixing and fiddling with levels would have greatly improved this. Being a non-dialogue movie I understand how it can be difficult to add in the required line, but I could hardly hear it and so a little more thinking on ingratiating this might have been helpful. The story was my main fault with the film, because I found it very hard to follow and really didn't connect with the characters in the film. With a bit of work in these areas I can definitely see a lot of good stuff coming from this group, keep it up!

THE HOPELESS LIFE OF SNOZ MEYER

Very good use of the line, especially with it on the paper, definitely got the audience on your side. Overall very funny and good sound for the narration. The lighting wasn't amazing, but also not dreadful. Not sure how well it fits the genre, but a very good film.

Brush By Life

Amazing film. Great idea with the paint, lovely and simple. The simple music track added a lot, it was in the background and added a great feeling to the film. Couldn't help but smile at this film; definitely great for the "inspirational movie" genre. Good job!

404 - Friend not found

This was a very good film and created a very strong and slightly humorous atmosphere of the man's loneness. Good use of music. Good casting with both the "imaginary friend" and the lonely man. Nice shot with the mirror when we first saw the second guy. The gore and blood was done pretty well, although it was noticeably fake, but the slightly funny nature of the film allowed this to be overlooked. I didn't entirely understand the twist at the end with the mirror, but that may have been the intended effect.

Don't Do The Right Thing

This was a really good film! Solid in all areas, nice lighting at the start with the lazer tag, and good costuming. Sound was pretty solid for most scenes. Good casting and the two leads. The story was very good and surprisingly understandable for something with so much in it. Nice characterisation and clever script.

Twin Dragonfist: The Fistening

A very nice martial arts action spoof. Very nice crisp sound, which was a relief after hearing the other films in the previous heat. Funny cheesy fight scenes worked well and added comedy, along with intentionally failed stunts. Good job.
