I watched this in the heats, and it was one I really enjoyed. From memory : A bumbling worker gets sucked into a fantasy portal (somehow) by a courier package. He has to take possession of the orb to be able to return to his real life. The film started with an interesting interlaced look and I remember thinking why did they need to record a screen when delivery no longer tape-based. All was revealed later. I loved the gags you used... especially losing the shoe, talking about the firewire cable and entering the technical room (with the sign "4th wall" on the door). The quirky humor makes this an enjoyable short for anyone who is a filmmaker, or has entered this competition before. For me, it didn't feel like a strong short. I think the production value of the low-res (filming the screen) "real-world" sequences set my expectations low. I enjoyed the humor and the concept of the "last leaf" the bad guy needs to rule the world, so I really think you stuck to your genre well. Great costuming in your fantasy world too.

As punishment for being late to work, Nicky must wait for his boss's package to be delivered. After waiting a really long time, the package finally arrives and when opened its contents transport Nicky to a different world - in higher definition! It is there that it is explained to him that a dark loard is one magical leaf away from being able to travel between worlds. Nicky has that leaf... The first part of this is delivered in a 4:3 TV screener look which is explained to much amusement once Nicky arrives in the fantasy world. There was a lot of variable audio and the wind is capture gloriously on a few occasions. I felt the cast handled their parts well and delivered some nice comedic touches but for me there wasn't a lot to get enthused about by the story that was presented.
