Ultra Split Screen

Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. I was watching through the movie and 1 fucking shot wasn't split screened.
How strict is this thing, surely 1 shot is okay.

I think you'll be ok. I literally did a reaction video to my own film with me in the bottom left corner at all times.. ULTRA was tricky, but not that hard :)

Well, given the history of it, not that strict. The ULTRA rule allows for a brief time where only one shot is on screen. How long is the shot in question?

SCREENING NOW: End - Real Time; CHCH25s
REVISIT: The Stile - Star-crossed Lovers; ULTRA48; CHCH25s

I love split screen stuff! Ever since I tried to figue out how to do the scene where kids run away from Barkley the dog behind a tree in an older Sesame Street Ending:

I'm hoping some teams have some merging- i.e split screen following separate characters, then merging to one full shot. Like this one: (watch the end part)

We did that in a few earlier 48hour entries, and can't actually remember the last time one of our entries didn't have a split-screen shot. I just love how creativity comes out best when teams take up that extra challenge.

I think it's like 4 seconds. It didn't feel like 4 seconds when I spotted it but now that I have seen it...
I've had a look at the timeline and it looks like it's a shot that I never got around to finishing for whatever reason because everything is in place it's just not resized and cut up with the other shot to make it split screen. Because of the nature of Splitscreen, I was still cutting all the way up until 5:30 pm or something and I was also trying to do little fixes to the rest of the cut as well.
I did read the rule but the Rule suggested that it's wipe transition which I'm not too sure how that would work to end up on one shot. It's just the way it's written It sounded as though every single shot in the movie had to be a split screen shot. I even joked to myself about asking if the credits needed to be split screen.
The whole thing is mortifying, to say the least.

Maybe you filmed two shots and matched them up, but the joining line was flawless?

I've counted that roughly half of us Ultra teams from Auckland were not shortlisted so get those films up so we can see what the other Ultra teams did.

Just saw your film in the screening room. The split screen worked during the songs, but seemed out of place during the dialogue. Damn your guys quality is sexy as. Lol

I suppose it was easier to make everything match up for the dialogue scenes than the musical stuff but I still liked how some of the dialogue stuff turned out. The sync on the last song is the poorest but that's cause I managed to record most of the scene without dialogue. I think the AAs in my RodeLink died on me which made that part frustrating in editing. The latest review is slagging me off for not being adventurous with the split-screen or whatever.

Haha, just keep reminding yourself you had to do twice as much as everyone else in 48 hours still, ultra was no mean feat this year! Everyone would have loved to have been more adventurous with split screen, but you do what you gotta :)
