Is it just me?

Let's face it, this competition needs a Pastor Thug wildcard as well.
I just know what's better than anyone else does.

To all you editors out there...

This could be an amazing opportunity for some reality TV.
We all know that editors are reclusive souls with poor people skills that never venture out into public, so a meeting of more than three editors in one venue would be an unprecedented event.
Watching them share their favorite Pokemon figurines from the tops of their monitors with each other would be an extremely rare occurrence worth capturing for future anthropological study.
Just be careful not to frighten them with any sudden movements.

Wildcards - which group are these selected from?

in reply to DylanReeve:

Silly me, of course that sounded retarded. I forgot to mention some of the crucial technical specifications:
Sir Pete uses 48fps 3D dowsing rods.

Apparently Peter Jackson doesn't even watch them.
They lay out the USB sticks and DV tapes on a table and he uses special WETA Workshop endorsed dowsing rods to make his selection.

What makes a story resonate with an audience?

in reply to Stanislavski:

Hot chicks AND a great story and the planets have truly aligned.

Hot chicks always make up for a crap story.

I had a dream the other night about next year's festival.

It should have to include the line "Jesus is coming, are you", and have a large white candle as a prop.

AUDIENCE VOTES AUCKLAND - UPDATING NIGHTLY

It's not a troll unless it has a 'your Mom' thingy in there somewhere.

in reply to DylanReeve:

Damn, you had everything going for you, but were let down at the last spec by only a 1080p resolution.
I bet you get the chicks with that camera though... Chicks love a 35mm sensor.

What would you do differently next time?

I'd get more slaves... hot, sexy slaves:
-People to help with moving gear
-Bring meals e.g scantily clad females feeding grapes into my mouth
-Massages between takes - I just know that would take production to the next level

If we totally bomb, it'll definitely be because there weren't enough babes in bikinis eager to satisfy every personal need amongst the crew... well, just my needs if I had to be personally honest.

If my team doesn't win, I'm making a formal complaint to the Human Rights Commission, unless I'm provided with verified photo evidence that sanctioned tinfoil hats were used by the judges.

Let's just all be honest here, anyone using a 4k camera has used it's mind-control codec to influence the outcome in their favour.

We all know the effect that simply saying that you shoot in 4k has on people, let alone the effect that it has when you pull-focus onto someone's brain, especially if you're using a legendary PL mount lens.
Hell, if you went all-out, and added a really cool-as looking matte box, you could probably influence the outcome of the up-coming elections (one sentence with three '-' in it - and I'm not even typing in 4k - damn I'm awesome).
I bet that's how Don Brash ousted Rodney Hide... he did a perfect rule of thirds composition on Rodney's head (that didn't need Weta Workshop CGI to look trippy) and focused crisply on his frontal lobes in RAW 4:4:4 and made him look ineffectual in taking ACT through to the 5% threshold in the next election.
Damn you 4k... damn you to Hell.

DSLR

I use a Canon 7D with a 5.6" Small HD monitor and a DT454 Juiced Link pre-amp with AGC disabler.
I was using a Zoom H4, but the extra time matching in post was doing my head in.
I'm using old school Nikon lenses.

Who else did the V48 for the first time?

First time for me.
It was a lot less problematic than expected, and wasn't the epic marathon of doom that I anticipated.
I shot (17 lit setups) and edited it too, but churned it out and managed to get enough sleep etc.

Yes I do want a medal.
