Nice work Nick! No reviews from me this year so will be asking Kelly to make mention of it every heat :)

Something weird going on. In the Christchurch heats the team lists are repeated or tripled. Not sure if it's happening everywhere!

Ah you're right - sorry there was a bit of a glitch bringing in the Chch heats! Think I've got rid of them all now, let me know if you see any more.

Awesome job as usual Nick!

Maybe next year it might be an idea to add "one line description of your film" to the wrap up form. After watching 13 films per heat a few get fuzzy, and I'm sure anyone reviewing would really appreciate this synopsis (I definitely would)

I've noticed them on previous years but I guess they get added after the fact when everyone has time.

I like that idea. Was just thinking earlier that for my reviews from heat night (when we eventually have it next week) that I'd give a bonus point if I could actually remember what the film was about by the time I got home. I usually have to resort to the memory of the younger house occupants (or SteelPotato: boo hoo, no reviews this year) in order to jog mine.

I was actually just kicking myself over not putting some kind of creator comment in this year - it was on my list last year, but I'm working overseas now and just had no time! Too late to add it now for 2014 as I would have needed to bring in Team Leader email addresses at the same time as all the heat data.

I'll feed the request for a 1-line synopsis as part of the wrap up form up the foodchain though, I agree that would make things much easier.

About two years ago I actually got confused between 2 films in a heat and gave the wrong review to the wrong films (they were very very similar). I fixed it and hopefully nobody noticed, but it'd be nice if it didn't happen again.

It would also mean reviewers could actually write feedback notes while watching films (I find all I usually write is a synopsis so I can remember what the film was about later)

I usually try to post a small synopsis as part of my review to help the next reviewers after me. Right now I'm waiting for someone to jog my memory on a few clips so I can finish the reviews for this heat :)

Thanks Nick!

Now i'm probably being greedy but some icons for the various categories in the wrapup form might be good too? It'd be good to know for example if we're reviewing a school team, or be able to look for all the animation entries in auckland, find out who have chick teams etc.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your great work.
There was a film in Wellington heat three that I wanted to review that I can't find in the database. The team was called ADJL. Also the team called 701.

Nick - Should "Cookie's Test Team" be in heat 4 - Auckland? It wasn't in the screening so I am assuming the team name is rather a description of an actual test that was being performed?

It did mean there was no time travel film, that was sad.

I've done some checking and I have no data on either of those 2 teams - they must have not submitted the online wrapup form.
If anyone has their film name and genre I can add them into the database manually.

And good catch Taunise - I've taken out Cookie's Test Team

Hi Nick we're from Last Minute Films, Heat 10 in wellington this evening, we were just having a look on the review database and noticed that our film (Program Reboot) wasn't there. Any Chance of getting us included.

Thanks

Review vandal alert. Currently got someone spamming some of the Christchurch films across multiple heats with one or two line reviews: Jason Milne. It's pretty obvious that he hasn't seen any of these films, and at a guess I'd say he's just trying to mess with the average star-ratings. Do some people think that these ratings actually have an impact on the final results maybe?

Anyway, not a big deal, cos the points barely matter, it's the content of the (good) reviews which is the true value of these to filmmakers. But still I'm wondering, is there a way to block or remove someone if they are obviously trolling?

Well, I can't say for sure of course, although it would be unusual if someone who is not generally known to organisers or regulars went along to all the heats (which are ostensibly private to casts and crew, although this isn't enforced). Apart from that, the specifics he mention appear to be simply parrotted from other reviews of the same films. (That said, maybe he went to Heat 9, which includes about half the films he reviews.)

Anyway, it's the kind of thing best ignored rather than trying to take action against it (the last thing we want is other people getting discouraged from writing reviews - god knows we could do with more of them). I guess my post was mostly out of curiosity around whether reviewers have ever been blocked/deleted in the past.
