Yeah I agree the tone of the animation worked well with the song.

I made a cardboard music video for my mates when I was studying, I used mine as puppets and did all the effects in camera(a DV handycam no less) so my tech wasn't as sophisticated but I still think it turned out okay:

Thank you for the comments. I would draw and cut out the cardboard cutouts and photograph them against the green screen then load them into after effects and do all the animations, i also used stop motion in few shots.

Thought your video Sam was really cool too.

Very nice! I especially enjoyed the stop motion water in the Dam scene, really well done.

One little thing is that the default AE lens flare is rather ugly and overused. If you don't have access to a nice custom plugin like videocopilot's optical flares, you can always grab a camera and shoot some more realistic flare elements yourself.

Thanks, would that be filming against a green or black screen for the lense flares ?

I actually thought about getting the video copilot flares in one of those bundled packs with element 3d a few months ago but decided i'd wait when i saw that they are working on a new action essentials 4K pack.

Against black, so you can use "screen" or "add" blending modes. Add is more realistic, but when using 8 bits per channel you may find screen better preserves highlight detail by preventing clipping where values would go above one.
