Was very disappointed when this group all got up and walked out straight after their film, was going to give them points but then choose not to. Not very good sportsmanship guys!

Nice camera work and good colour grading - especially under the bridge and fight scene which was very well edited. Unfortunately as the reviewer above mentioned... the very noisy exit from the theatre en masse immediately after you film played made everyones jaws drop! Very bad form guys. You blew it big time. Right in front of some judges too.

Ignoring the unsporting walkout (I bet you all voted for yourselves too, ay?) this was a terrible movie. What the hell was the point? The plot was a whole lot of wanking on about the supposed mystique some cult who wore wire pendants. What the cult did or who they were was never explained. So what exactly was the point? The sole redeeming feature was the cinematography, but with that plot, the old adage applies: you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Good cinematography, terrible sportsmanship. Extreme arrogance ruined this film.

Very well shot film, and a HUGE improvement from last year's effort. Good editing and well acted. My only gripe is the same as Bobski's, as the film's point was sacrificed by not explaining what the wire was about. I won't let the exit affect my rating, but would have given 5 stars it if you sang the "are you in or are you out?" song before departing ;-)

Yes, um, exactly. Why were you there? Hadn't you seen your own film already?

Personally, I thought this film was really cool, I liked the idea of not actually revealing the reason behind the love of the wire. The cinematography was brilliant, but didn't necessarily suit the pseudo doco style that was being aimed for. But as many people have pointed out already, very poor sportsmanship. I crossed out my 3 on my marking sheet when I saw the entire team get up, leave & look around to see if people were laughing. They weren't.

Thought this film was well done and the shots looked amazing! Who ever filmed it is gonna go a long way in life! Well done!

Im rating this on the quality of the film which I thought you had some great elements. Film, colour, humour etc. But am afraid I have to agree with the other comments for all of you group to walk out was in bad taste.

Liked team intro a lot and really liked opening. Good choice of music. Well filmed and edited and really crisp picture, very professional looking. Not much of a story line, but not really the style. Big improvement from last year. Bit rude of you however to leave the cinema en masse. Sure it was a school night but it wasn't that late....

The Film was definitely visually appealing, super crisp! Locations suited the story too. At stages I missed the plot and got confused, especially at the end. But thats just me. I ask one of the guys, and the reason they left was for one of their Baptisms, It would have been cool to say that so the reviews were not affected by this.

I really liked this film and thought it was pretty darn amazing for a teen team - if that's what they were?! Cinematography was great and there were some really nice shots and editing used. I liked the idea for the film and also the mystery behind the fad as well. Good work!

I gave this half a point for having some nice filming. Bad form walking out early even if it was for some lame religious/fairytale occasion .

A nice intro leads to a young looking inventor talking about a fad (Wirest) he invented when he was young! At first no one listens, but later others pick up on the fad and the film explores how their lives are affected. Bluefire are a former finalist (and regional teen winner?), I remember their horror film from a couple of years back. They've certainly got some talent and it's impressive if they are the ones doing the camerawork/post-production as this film is pretty slick. I felt the story went on a bit too long and as a result failed to keep me engaged. Funny to see the dying father looking the same age as the son at the end! Age-appropriate casting is SO important. Either bite the bullet and find someone older or tailor your story to the age of your cast. You guys have talent: use it wisely! * On the walk out: surely all you needed to do was mention to Andrew that you had to leave. He could have explained it and delayed the start of the next film.

Great cinematography here with wonderful framing. Great use of the prop. Film should do well locally but not helped by the walkout. Didnt get my audience vote but might feature later...

Perhaps you all had a wire meeting to go to? The beginnings of a good concept. Great cinematography. Good acting.

Why did you all leave? Did you have a wire-church? A good concept, well acted and shot.

moping out of the theater was a bad move

Exceptional production values from a teen team; someone clearly knows how to wield a DSLR and has an eye for great cinematography! The fight scene stood out as a great example of nice flow and good use of numerous camera techniques to achieve a very slick scene. The short was nicely graded and although the wire wasn't explained I would agree with LisaJordan about the mystery adding to it. They're a team team that shot and produced better than most adult teams; and should be proud of what they ended up with handing in. Unlike most people that commented on the early exit, I took the time to stalk and ask one of them and FYI; the city manager was aware they had to leave early. (so perhaps Andrew should have passed that on to the heats as MistaTeas suggested) All in all, nicely shot and edited. Stronger developed story would take this to the top shelf.

Silas Organa (the second Princess Leia shout-out of the heat?), founder of Wirism, explains doco-style his wiry cult / religion. He initially wins few converts, but Bobby Young is one such convert, and Wirism turns him from his bullying ways. Opponents of Wirism exist - we know they're bad, because they wear sunglasses. Bobby Young passes on his bent wire talisman (the Wirism equivalent to a crucifix, I guess) to his son on his deathbed, but we never find out what Wirism actually is. This was a technically slick short with some decent cinematography and production values, but because we danced all around it Wirism without ever finding out anything about it, the story was pretty lacking. I guess the mysterious Wirism was intended as a sort of Macguffin, but was only really presented as straight imagery - (soundless) sermon / prayer meetings, wire pendants etc. - and I would have liked to have learned more about the tenets and principles of Wirism that helped to change Bobby, etc. Well put together though.

[Watched in the screening room] So there is this guy who is trying to start a movement base around pieces of bent wire, he gets some follows, whos lives get better and stand around with wire. There are some bad guys that walk in slow motion, and then in the future some guy dies and gives his son his wire. This film was... average. Obviously they had some good equipment, props to whoever did the cinematography. It felt like an awesome film with a really crappy story and delivery. A good effort, but in my opinion lacking creativity and.. well creativity. This could easily have been a contender at the finalists if they just had a good story. The acting was passable, I liked the boy who gets beat up half way through. Kinda wasn't a point to the film and didn't evoke any emotion. However the skills are there, with some creative storytelling this team has potential (I'll be honest the cinematography was mind blowing at times).

Very well shot film, and a HUGE improvement from last year's effort. Good editing and well acted. My only gripe is the same as Bobski's, as the film's point was sacrificed by not explaining what the wire was about.
