how this film came out on top of heat 23 I don't know. script wise it was well done but nothing overly inventive for the crime genre. the main faults being technical laziness and substandard acting. Very few of the shots cut together and the audio was near impossible to pick up at points. not a terrible film but definitely nothing worth looking out for.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It had a strong script that kept me guessing what would happen next and had some subtle clues that I only understood when I thought back on it. The hero actor was also quite good and played the part well. However it was let down by poor technical standards, especially camerawork and the acting of the villain. Overall this was a story that kept me interested and if they improved technically it would have been very good. Having a slightly different, interesting, well told story in a competition with 500+ other films being made is one of the hardest things to get right.

This was a clever little film about a pair of detectives investigating seemingly unrelated crimes comitted by the same person. I thought the characters in this short were really well fleshed out, and had personalities of their own, which is a hard thing to do in 48 hours. The jaded detective and rookie trying to fit in are a stereotype, but they had their quirks in this film which really helped it along. It's a pity the lead detective actor didn't quite manage to make his character convincing, going from a bit too uninterested to very over the top. I Fought The Law had some brilliant little quotes, and managed to really push an anti-smoking agenda, which as a non-smoker who gets smoke blown into her face every day walking down the street, I absolutely loved. The twist at the end was fantastic, and subsequent joke hillarious and well pushed through the whole film. Overall an enjoyable watch and I can see why this won audience favourite.

I enjoyed this short. The film looked great on the big screen, much less like a home-movie feel that many of the other films had. I believe they deserved best short of the heat mainly because the film was interesting, easy to follow and not choked out with gag after gag. Well done.
