The Game

Very enthusiastic chase movie by a school team. Energetic chase with fights for no apparent reason that I could work out but very well done with its camera angles and editing. Great use of Kawakawa as a location starting with the railyards, going through the town busy with a vintage railway festival and even taking in the frontage and down the side of the famous Hundertwasser Public Toilets. Successful in sharing this team's sense of fun and I voted for it in the audience favourites poll.

Seed Runners

Contains satirical comment on global social issues so of course I am going to love this because we do that too. A powerful multinational corporation has a monopoly on seeds. We follow an activist group trying to illegally grow, smuggle and distribute organic seeds but the corporation is closing in on them. A plot twist based on a related global environmental issue then comes into play ... I spy references to the WW2 French Resistance.

Man Camping

IMO great acting performances raise this little rom-com above and beyond its basic storyline into quirky neo-screwball comedy land like a laconic NZ take on "How I Met Your Mother", "Mom", "Hot In Cleveland", "The Middle" etc. Visuals show signs of 48 Hours stress. Fortunately audio maintains clarity.
