soooooooooo gooooooooooood funniest one in the heat for sure

I was surprised by this film! Hungry Lion clearly moved at great speed and reaped the benefits. It's a tale of the first zombies in an apocalypse, and it's a packed full film that feels like it was made with all the time in the world. Right from the start we see effective use of lighting, adherence to the expected horror tropes, and an inherent understanding of shot-building. The film is fast, seems to burn through an endless stream of appropriate location changes (including a blisteringly funny scene on a bus), and takes us through a lot of emotions along the way. High hopes for Hungry Lion, these guys are masters in the making.

This was the film I most enjoyed in the heat, and I foresee a lot of potential from this team. They seemed more assured and filmically literate than a lot of young teams. The slapstick sense of humour was reminiscent of Sam Raimi or Bad Taste-era Peter Jackson - not rare in 48Hours, but not every team can actually pull it off with confidence. Finding a fresh take on zombie material is certainly not easy these days, but this story had a pretty original perspective. Odd coincidence: I used to live in that house about 20 years ago.

For such a young team I was amazed with the maturity of both the commitment to the acting, and also commitment to making sure every shot was effective as a whole for the movie. The locations used in the film were obviously well pre-meditated; this added to the film as each shot connected to the emotions of the main character, and helped the audience to connect with Nicky. The actor who played Nicky did a fantastic job, he was very charismatic and so connected to the audience and thus created a humorous yet deep atmosphere to the film. The use of the other characters such as the 'girlfriend'/boy and the flatmate were well depicted, and added to the hilarity. Overall I found that Zomboy produced a strong movie and were able to pull off extremely well the horror genre, even the movie's flaws (budget special effects) made the movie all the more hilarious. Well done.

Awesome, great work guys. Really really enjoyed this one, its not often you see a younger team make a film while pulling it off with confidence and class, keep it up!

With only one heat left to go, I still think that this film really stacks up against the rest! Personal highlights for me: the scene with the bourbon (I laughed in the face of those who gasped over the underage drinking), the falling onto the spike, and of course when the zombie boy gave the "girl" his heart! That actor played a very convincing girl I must say and this band of young hooligans looks ready to top 5 Mile Town in terms of local success!

im writing another review hahaha the one before didnt say much This was my all time favourite short from heat 3. it was well put together and really funny, but still had moments where you feared the zombies, it was the perfect comedy horror, i couldn't stop laughing and the music they used worked very well when he was walking alone :)

Just saw in the screening room. Really enjoyed this ZOM-ROM-COM. The guy who played the lead was (literally) the heart and soul behind the success of this film for me. The line between humour and tragedy and horror was handled very well - I felt I was in the safe hands of some confident story-tellers. Great to see the use of DIY practical effects instead of digital. Some were a bit fake looking, but nothing really detracted from the film. Favourite shot: the big spike looming up from the right hand side of the frame - this was a funny parody of horror film tropes, but also just solid storytelling. Great job guys.
