MOUSE TRAP!

I had the pleasure of visiting this team over the shoot weekend, we saw a unassuming garage set and a bunch of friends (ex-onslow college students) in animal costumes. To see this film with an audience at the Wellington Finals at the Embassy Theatre was a real treat. All the jokes landed and Hugo accepting the best performer award in character had the crowd in stitches! Tino pai!

Killing Karma Studios were a well-deserved Wellington City finalist! The camera work, lighting, art direction and acting were spot on. The simplicity of the concept played really well and it allowed the audience to settle in and to enjoy the strong mise en scene. I love when there's a really strong connection between a 48HR film and a specific element, and this team's take on 'miniature' was fantastic. Confident filmmaking from a confident team, had me in stitches!

PS - there was no second guessing who would walk away with the acting award! Huge congrats to Hugo for their stellar performance.

The overwhelming chatter at the Tasting room bar last night was “but where was mousetrap?”

Such a slick fun film. Would watch for fun outside of the competition.
