Some great stuntwork with fluid, dynamic camera movements and tight editing to really sell the action. Smooth performances. The speed bump gag was brilliant. I love the commitment to repeatedly throwing yourself in a creek.
The story was secondary to the action. I found myself enjoying the action without having any understanding of the "why". At the start of the film, more time could have been spent on selling the importance of the characters all converging on this location, to draw the audience into the mystery of what was there. Some clues could have been given (or character relationships shown) that would make the grand reveal more satisfying. The last shot of the film could have been longer (as I missed it entirely on my first viewing).
Some shots would have benefited from better sound, either recorded at the time or through ADR.
Great work, you gave exactly what was asked for – an action film – and it was a pleasure to watch your commitment to delivering.
This was well filmed, but I did not understand the story until the end, when they all reached for the ring and I realised "ah, they've all been running to get that". But there was no reason given as to why a valuable ring would have been dropped off to a random location on the grass, three different people would be told, and all had to run and get it.
Also, and this may have just been me being dumb, but it actually took me a long time to even work out how many characters there were, since they were all shown briefly and individually until they all came together in the final stretch. Some sort of establishing scene or sequence that showed us there were three characters and what they had to do with each other would have been very helpful.
I hope you'll be back next year, and apply your excellent acting and production skills to a more compelling story.
Awesome energy! Great camera movements! The girl getting fully run over by the car and then getting up and screaming was SO FUNNY! Great work from a school team
This really reminded me of Run Lola Run, and Trainspotting!
I think with some practice, an extremely entertaining, unique visual directorial style is in the very near future!
Sometimes you just gotta run real fast and full send it into a steam and that's how you make an action movie. There's some really cool camera work going on here which aptly suit the genre and keeps things engaging. Great work tīma
Some great stuff in here team! It was awesome to come visit you onsite, and check out your shooting process, glad you had fun! (hopefully)
The action is great, the pace is well kept, and all this film is really missing is just a bit of context. The beats go by so fast that it’s unclear why the chase has begun, how many are on the hunt for this location, and why they’re so desperate to be the one to get there first.
THE BEST THING: That piggyback ride.
THE NEXT THING: Less running, more story! And you’ll find yourselves well on your way to stardom - well done!
