Elijah's Ladder

This film has grown on me more and more after the screening, it was an experience, and I mean that in a really good way!
It was extremely beautiful in a way that's quite difficult to describe. The simplicity of your setting really made us focus on the character, and made every new element brought in hit all that much harder.
It felt like a mix of many different emotions, subtle at times, and not so subtle at others, yet not confusing or too chaotic at any point.

As others have said, this is a very heartfelt film that tells it's story beautifully!

Room of UR

A perfect ending to cap of a hilarious film! (Perfect use of the vine boom!)
You've got to at least get nominated for best use of 'rumour', it's such a great pun, I love it to it's very core!
In my opinion this was definitely the highest quality film out of all the school team films, and you had a good balance of humour and plot.
My one suggestion would be for you guys to go bigger, not bigger sets or a larger story, but just more wackiness! Although this film is already quite wacky and awesome, it felt like if you just took one more step and lent into everything just a bit more it would have elevated this film by a lot. The ending and the introduction to the room of ur both had the right amount of fun and wackiness but some of the other parts of it feel like they could go slightly more all out. like they're 95% of the way there, but just haven't added that last 5%.
This is very minor and nit-picky though! Your film is great, and I had a lot of fun watching it in the heats! All of your actors were really good, and portrayed each of their very different characters perfectly!

Idle Vapourings of a Mind Diseased

After the second injury, I knew exactly where the rest of the film was going, yet was never bored and still entirely hooked and waiting for the next way she injured herself!
This was a load of fun to watch, though I don't know if this is just me, but the ending felt a little bit abrupt, the film as a whole seemed to be half the story, then cut straight to the ending.
Overall, I quite enjoyed it though, the film was great fun and got many a laugh out of me!

The Deadumentary

This film.... it may not be the most polished one of it's heat, but of all the school films, this has made it's way into the number one position for me. When the finder of the body is hunting for his phone everywhere then finds it in his pocket, what would normally be a mediocre joke somehow is acted and the music is edited so well to make it far funnier then it has any right to be.
The stoner though. The stoner is what makes this my personal favourite school team film. I was laughing so hard I was entirely silent and had no control over stopping. an absolutely immaculate character who pulled of his extremely long lines of dialog so incredibly well.

Now, I'm going to critique your film a bit, but specifically because I love what you've got and really want to see your team improve for next year!

What you did well:
Perfect humour, absolutely perfect, and carries the film a long way.
Acting was quite good.
Ending was great!

What you could improve:
Audio. I struggle with focusing on audio as well, as visuals seem to naturally come first. But bad audio will just take you out of the film while good audio really helps to keep the audience in the story rather then thinking about watching a film.
Directing. As I said before your actors are good, but there's one shot near the start of the film where your main witness is being interviewed and is struggling so hard to keep a straight face! If that's happening take a break from that shot or find a work around someway. As that definitely takes the audience out of your story, and it's the directors job to keep on top of that sort of thing and help the actors to perform well, or make the decision to do two shots rather then one so there's not so much pressure on them each take.
Genre. Here I'm being slightly more nit-picky, but as it stands your film feels like a comedic detective film far more then it does comedy of errors. there are definitely comedy of errors elements in there, but I'd love to see you leaning into your genre next time a little bit more!

As you continue you'll improve in quality, but you guys have such a great style! I loved this film so much and once it opens up here on the screening room you bet I'll be watching it many times more!

Ghost PTSD

This film is really good! Your actors sold it quite well, and each shot looked really nice! This film really made you feel things, especially in the theatre.

Now, I do have one thing that I think would have improved this film, but it's not a big grip! this is quite minor, but I think it would've just elevated your film that bit more!
I think that this film would have felt a lot deeper if you hadn't gone through every shot shown before and shown him fading out. You built up a sense of mystery and depth throughout the film, making us a viewers have to think and try to figure out what was happening, then you revealed everything to us and sort of shallowed out your plot by laying everything so clear and bare at the end. If you had left out a lot of the shots of him disappearing then it would make the film so much more rewatchable, because (for example) on your second watch you would see the shot of him with his son and realise "Wait... He's not there!". You would still be thinking about it and learning new things about the film with each watchthrough.

That great wall of text is only a minor thought though! All in all this is really well made, and a poignant piece.

Gates To Castle Yonder

I said this to you guys at the screening this evening, but I will say it again here:
I saw this pop up in the screening room and from the get go it looked like it was going to be great.... It did not disappoint!
This film is absolutely hilarious, and the final hook is such a hilariously satisfying ending!

The cinematography in this is very well done, and the acting is spot on for each character!

404: Adrian Not Found

I was quite intrigued by this film. I thought the humour was good, it got a few good laughs out of me at the screening! But I'm going to be a little bit critical with this review just to point out something I think could have definitely been improved on.

I could tell watching this that you had a good script. Your ideas and writing were good, and if a film has bad ideas and writing it's bound to fail from the get go.
But where I think you fell into some problems was in both the filming and editing.
I've heard before that a film is told three times, once in writing, once in filming, and once in editing. Each of the three sections takes the story and tells it in a slightly different way.
Your writing seems good, but if the next two parts of production fall a bit flat (which I think they did) then your film isn't going to work that well as a whole.
As Dennischief said: "it felt like an introduction to a story", But I'm pretty sure your script didn't feel like that.
In essence, you guys definitely had a good underlying story, but didn't quite pull it off in filming and editing.

The humour was still great though! and I thought your title at the start of the film was really good! It was so crisp and felt so nice seeing it behind the characters as they moved toward the table!

You've got great ideas, I hope you keep making stuff and can't wait to see what you create next year!

The Little German Boy and the Cave

My favourite film from the first heat, had me nearly in tears within the first 10 seconds, an absolutely hilarious ride!
Other people have noted this, but your pacing did slow down near the end, if you cut the boat vs house scene a bit shorter that would have helped a-lot!

Overall, this film is wild, absolutely loved it!

Pop's Precious Pranks

I loved this one, it's hilarious! The whiplash of switching to a completely different style, then right back again for the end was perfection. The pacing was excellent, and the acting was brilliant, especially from your lead actress!

And that final shot of the cop walking up..... so good....

This was a very well put together film, with a great premise and incredible acting!

truER detective

Absolutely loved this film's storytelling! The dialogue was excellent and the entire film was jam packed with humor.
I loved the bullet time moments and gave a little chuckle at the drop in camera quality for the spilt second that they happened!
The cutting back to all the different possibilities (and the interview with the fast food guy!) were all pulled off and edited great.

Overall, an extremely enjoyable film, good work!

Hacked Off

This film was so much fun to watch! You guys have been able to create such an entertaining film while at the same time presenting an important message without it ever feeling forced!
Hacker films can easily be quite cliché if you're not careful, and your film is absolutely not cliché. Having an entire mashup of different old devices made this feel so different from many hacker films and has cemented its place in my mind as a great and hilarious take on the hacker genre!
I've only been doing the comp for a few years but this is by far the best film I've seen from you guys! Really good work!

A Silence In Sam's Town

This is an absolutely beautiful film.
At the screening this evening everyone was completely silent throughout and at the last shot you could hear the room's quiet gasp.
This is a film that sticks with you.

The cinematography was amazing, the acting was incredible! You have used everything in your toolbox to create one of the most moving films in the competition.

Brunch Solstice

This film is awesome! The dialog is very well written, and is delivered very convincingly.
I love the awkward deadpan nature of the whole thing!

You had a good variety of shot types as well! It kept switching up and worked in conjunction with a great script and acting, keeping us (the viewer's) interested and hooked!

The twist end was also very well set up and satisfying to watch! Great work!

LARVAE GIRL THE ROAD TO REVENGE PART 2

The most epic reveal of all time in the theatre,

And such a satisfying ending,

This was incredible.

LARVAE GIRL THE ROAD TO REVENGE PART 1

You have improved so much since last year! Although last year's film was absolutely hilarious and you made it to the regional finals, this year's had so much more story, and most of the gags helped forward the story instead of just being gags! This was such a blast to see in the theatre.

Your camera work has improved as well, we as the audience almost feel like a character in the story with the amount of involvement the camera has!

Absolutely loved this one, and the sequel! Keep it up!

Glove Box

I really enjoyed the impressive cinematography in this one! every shot is really nice to look at, and both your leads are great actors!

A thing to work on would probably be your story. this film felt more like a moment in time than anything else. we were sort of dropped into the middle of the action, and it felt like we were pulled out before the story finished.

But overall, this was quite good, and I can't wait to see what else this team comes up with!

The Road Not Taken

You guys did a great job telling a classic poem with many different animation styles! It flowed together nicely, and was peaceful to watch. What may be a good idea for the future is to try and record cleaner audio, but apart from that you guys did a fantastic job, especially for making it in only 24hours!!!

Fools Gold

This film was great fun! From your dialog in the phone call all the way to that hilarious ending, I greatly enjoyed your humour and the way you told a simple and clear story!
I would like to reiterate what Mista Teas said though about the amount of time spent digging, that could have possibly been elevated with some more interesting camera shots showing the character's frustration building as he doesn't find the gold, then his excitement and interest as he digs for the mayo.
Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed your film!

And I especially loved the ending and the spoons! The spoons truly made that ending perfect!
