The Lost Samurai

The Lost Samurai - An interesting one this. They had captured some good basic elements of setup for the story, and being Musical had somewhat of a challenge on their hands. Some shots were missing the peow factor for me, but they did hit the genre on the head and executed a basic story line which made perfect sense. I would have liked to seen the actors loosen up and express themselves more as the performance was very flat.

SLEEPLESS RAGE

Im real happy that this short has had the ability to 'scare' some people! what more could I ask for?..9 minutes + of footage / had to cut scenes and shorten to fit the requirement. Had some fun making it and believe we made full use of the genre and details of the competition. Also last minute entry with no team until Friday a bunch of friends came together to help. :). Looking forward to 2014....(and some 2013 recognition ;)) I appreciate all words.....PS ... I love B grade movies....

Blue Genes

WOW....., ok, the beginning of the movie was 110% techno thriller, and the scene had me super interested, I was super impressed, and then....well that was it, they opened well and then the story went flat from their, I believe they did the Techno Thriller well, it is an odd genre some not used to, but they definitely nailed some good techno thriller moments which I would have been proud of. I give them thumbs up for genre adhesion and ideas....I can see potential in what they had come up with but just fell short of the mark for me.

Transomniac "The Movie"

Acting was this teams strong point no doubt about that! The story based around 'the reunion' showed just that, a reunion scene for insomniacs. Some good initial character initiations and again the acting was at that 'theatrical level' A humurous end. straight forward good editing, Would like to see some more cinematic use of camera (but I'm just a cinema nut)

Night Vision

Probably my fav movie of our heat (excluding our own of course ;)), The horror aspect of it was planted well, and used some traditional methods to get there. I believe they could have stepped a bit further with scare moments if executed that fraction better. The story setup was good and had the moment of "Oh I see whats going to happen here". Good twist and good ending. I loved the very last shot, the music track worked well with it, I was even jealous for a moment as the camera flowed away from the actors...

Partners In Crime

Partners in Crime, a good skit with good comedic value in most of the setups. Def one of the funniest of our heats, although I felt the comedy ultimately took away any scare factor that may of been introduced or intended.... So I was left confused somewhat as to whether I had seen a Horror or a comedy at the end of it. The End had a good twist that redeemed some points back but I was laughing mostly rather than being put in suspense. A good solid produced film that showed good standards and one of the better produced look films out of our heats, but I have to take points off for it (in my eyes at least) failing to really capture the meaning of the Horror Genre.
