This was an excellent time! I love all the costuming and make-up, very fun. The twist ending was very exciting!
truER detective
This was so fun! The lead actors bounced off each other so great. I loved the stop motion! My sister and I have been making jokes about fireproof shoes since the heats and my sisters boyfriend got really excited about the chicken guy cameo.
Fools Gold
Crack up! So many good gags in this film. I loved the guy spray painting the rocks gold and just saying "nah" when confronted about it. The spoons coming back around at the end was so good too. Really nice location too. Great job!
Blowing Smoke
Had so much fun watching this one! Really dynamic camera work and I LOVED the sfx on the rice cracker shurikans!
The Secret Garden
So sweet, it's nice to see a whole family involved in the competition! Going through the overgrown plant fridge was fantastic and whimsical. I enjoyed every minute of it!
Idle Vapourings of a Mind Diseased
My sister and I turned to each other jaws gaping at the John Key ponytail reference which I haven't probably thought about since it happened when we were kids. Very fun tounge in cheek film!
Mon Amour
Including your handyman in your will (and them showing up in their high vis!!!) is such a funny gag. I'm glad that he got his artwork.
Campaign
If this doesn't make it through to the grand finals it will be proof of the CORRUPTION from the North Island influences 😡
So laugh out funny. Had a great time seeing this at the heats. A perfect end to the evening, especially with the anticipation from the bingo card that the cathedral would be exploding at some point during the week.
MASHED
This was so so funny, I'm so glad that I got to catch it with an audience at the heats! I loved taking a simple premise and going absolute bananas with it (I'm so sorry, I've stolen your punchline). The escalation is so good from the expected banana peel slip gag, to then driving past the banana suit in the car and then the final fight! I loved the anonymity of the morph suit under the banana costume. The fight was so hilarious, I was equal parts delighted and disgusted when the protagonist starts eating fist falls of mashed banana. Keep up the great work!
The Shroud
I was sat in stunned silence watching this at the finals last night. The cinematography in this is sooo incredible, cannot commend you enough for how beautiful this looks.

I LOVED this so so much. You guys absolutely nailed your genre 100% and I was hooked the entire time! Fantastic editing. Great performance from your actor. Fabulous set design and props!! I was so inspired by the long arms and the paper mache (?) head. Snubbed from the shortlist in my opinion. Keep making cool and weird films, can't wait to see what you make next!
Smoke and Mirrors
Great dedication from the whole family! I loved the singing every line, everyone committed 100% and it was so good! The Dad's lines had me in stitches every time.
Party Puffers
This was so so good! My elderly grandfather lives with my family and my sister and I were leaning over to each the other the whole film whispering [this] is Grandad. We were in stitches the whole time and I think you guys got the biggest laughs of the evening at the finals - so well deserved this was awesome!
Once Upon a Time, There Was You
This film was a whirlwind! It was cool getting to see this at the finals last night- I wish you could have seen my grin when the singing started and the fairytale costumes came out! So funny, and yet also so sincere and moving which I didn't see coming and landed great emotionally. You guys really did it all! Super well done!
Elijah's Ladder
Incredibly well done! I'm only just now learning that you were a solo team so double congratulations because you've absolutely crushed it! I was so moved, I was clutching my heart watching this during the heats. So impressive to have so much emotional depth in such a short film let alone one made in 48 hours!
No Time To Die... Again
Absolutely delightful to get to witness the bungy jump at the heats! The crowd was electric with excitement!
Hacked Off
Love the theme of the film! Everyone on screen was charismatic and funny. It was a an exciting watch and a nail biting climax.
As others have mentioned the pinball game was so nostalgic!
Grounded
This is such a sweet story with a lovely message. I think the most wholesome 48 hour film I've ever seen and a well deserved win for the competition this year! The ladybug and spider are both so cute.

So well done guys! Sets such a good spooky atmosphere, the boyfriend character is perfect at being the dismissive unlikable character (had me actually rolling me eyes) and the end reveal made me jump at the heats! Nice lighting throughout and great use of the houses layout for the one take.
MOTHER
Had the privilege of getting to see this at the Grand Finals last night! Absolutely blown away that you made this in only 48 hours (or less after going swimming haha!) Such a heart warming story, endearing characters and great animation! So so cool!
Road 2 Revenge
I love Hermes Heroes dedication to the cinematic experience! Making the medium of the competition itself as much part of the creativity as actually making the film. The smell-o-vision was absolutely inspired!!
Mission Impuppetable
The name of the film Mission Impuppetable got me super excited as a puppet fan and I'm so glad that the puppets were super involved in the film!! I know the struggles of trying to shoot with puppets and keeping actors out of shot so kudos to you guys! Great performances from the puppet characters, I really enjoyed the bat flying and whenever the rabbit was hacking! The acronym reveal and devolvement into a dance party was funny as. Loved it!!
Where's Larry Scrapp?
The hook up gag was underrated at heats but it got me really good. Really well done overall!
