NZ Writers Guild Offers Prizes for Best Regional Scripts

We’re excited to announce a fantastic prize partnership with the New Zealand Writers Guild (NZWG) for this year’s 48Hours competition!

The NZWG is stepping up to support emerging screenwriters in a big way—offering 4 x one-year NZWG memberships and a Career Checklist Session to each of the regional Best Script winners. Not just recognition, but real tools to help take your screenwriting career to the next level.

The NZWG represent the professional interests of writers in the fields of film, television, theatre, radio, comics and new media. NZWG members include most of the professional script writers working in New Zealand.

What is a Career Checklist Session?

The sessions are 1 hour in length, and are designed to help screenwriters build their professional skills to start and maintain a career as a screenwriter in the sector. Full Members and Associate members receive two different types of sessions.

What is included in the sessions?

The sessions cover how to set career goals, creating and maintaining a slate of work and professional materials, how to approach producers and agents (when ready), and ways of earning income as a screenwriter.

NZWG support 48HRS as an exciting and challenging way of supporting emerging talent into the screen sector. This initiative gives them a chance to shine, hone their skills, and get them ready for the leap into professional film-making in all it's forms.

48Hours is all about launching new talent—and NZWG shares that mission. Their support helps turn what might be someone’s first script into the beginning of a screenwriting career. It’s an exciting, challenging competition, and opportunities like this make it even more worthwhile to put your pen (or keyboard) to work.

Big thanks to the NZ Writers Guild for backing our writers!
