Favour From The Neighbour

Reviews

The 'at night' element was largely achieved through stark lighting, which wasn't the most clever use of the genre. The flashcuts were a nice addition and added a spook factor and tension. I felt that the ending wasn't as strong as it could have been.

Love the awkwardness between the two characters, the creepy factor and the tension build was done very nicely. Not a fan of the lighting, and looks like the picture was a bit soft on some parts of the film for an extended period of time, but I like the film as a whole, and I like the ending.

This film had a lot going for it, good performances from the two leads and it included a nice tonal shift from the awkward couple to; uh oh this bloke is dodgy.

STRONG PERFORMANCES I SWEAR FRED POKAI DELIVERS EVERY YEAR COME 48HOURS. YES AT FIRST GLANCE THIS JUST COVERED THE AT NIGHT REQUIREMENT THROUGH SHADOW AND CONTRAST BUT LISTENING TO AND WATCHING THE STORY IT WAS QUITE CLEAR THAT THIS TEAM ACTUALLY TOOK A RISK IN THEIR (USUALLY DEATH-KNELL) APARTMENT SETTING. UNSETTLING AND OMINIOUS WITH A RUMBLING SONIC SCORE TO HIGHLIGHT THE CREEPIEST MOMENTS. FULL OF TENSION THIS WAS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF DOING MORE WITH LESS. STAYS ON THE MIND LONG AFTER.
