Survival of the mutant

Very weird. Post-apocalyptic home video being watched by a sarcastic twisted dude. There were moments where I was really lost. And there were funny bits that had the audience laughing. I liked the Alanis Morissette reference. I would vote this as the best-worst of the heat.

4 years in the future a virus attacks the whole world, and so people decide to make the most of their last time by spending and sharing time with friends and family/sharing video and skyping. Started off cringe-worthy and got better...and better...and better until I was literally crying from laughter at the stupid things our narrator would quip on. I mean a young boy with a slingshot? Yeah ok. Drinking mate with a BBQ? Good to reminisce I supposed. But yeah the team just snapped and our narrator came up with some goldmines of dialogue. "Go Nick Go" "Alanis Morissette isn't ironic, she's just inept". So yeah in other words another best worst contender.

WTF? was it shot and handed in 4:3 and then changed to 16:9 and back to 4:3? i thought all films were to be 16:9 this was all over the place. even with footage underneath footage. but hey you got a film into the comp and it was seen on the big screen.

A film very much in the have-a-go spirit of the 48 hour film fest. I really enjoyed watching it. If you measure it by professional film-making standards, it doesn't come off well, but the film had an originality and personality that made it more valuable than any star rating it's likely to get. Looked like a tiny crew (I think I only saw one guy stand up to take his bows) so well done Monastery Amateur Film Club!

There was something charming about this film, despite it being quite a bit weird. Definitely inspired some genuine laughs. Agreeing with previous posts that Alanis Morissette is inept at irony. But there was one line that was truly ironic in the song... Maybe not such an achievement. Anyway well done.

Those big budget, huge cast, cg special effect extravaganza end of the world movies be damned. This wee gem featured a reminiscing narrator who reflected on the people he would miss while getting ready to head out and face the world, machete in hand, as the last man standing. This movie quickly engaged the audience and had an interesting voiceover approach that set it apart from your standard offering. Yes, it was lower production values than some entries but did you see the size of the crew- one man (with, I must add, a moustache to be envied). Can't wat to see what this 'crew'/one-man- band can pull out for 2013.

Some very personal touch in this one.. Technical bits were not just there but I guess it was just the part of the charm for 48hours.. sound was out of sync,VO was overpowered by the other audio and the comments were dodgy.. all you need I guess... would not rate it for best worst film just simply to hard dialogue/Vo.. best worst film needs simplicity kind of.. Play catch with puppies made me gringe..

Told from the films protagonist's internal observations, we find the last surviving man recollecting his past through saved footage on his computer, before departing outside and... what happened? This film was great for it's 'have a go' approach, I was reminded by this very entry at how special the 48 Hour Film Festival can be, enabling any competitor to get involved and produce a piece and share a tale. I won't comment on it's technical quality, but found it to be a surreal little gem to open the night with!
