Mimey Vice

Made me chuckle at the concept of clowns Vs mime artists. Fun was the name of the game here and although some of the cuts let this down, the use of genre was interesting. I don't know why, but this had me thinking of the droogs in 'A Clockwork Orange'. I never thought turf wars could be so humerous. A good effort and drew lots of laughs.

Argh sorry error message lead to double post

A really interesting take on crime- a gang turf war between performance acts. Some clever ideas that needed a bit more work. I got pretty confused at the end, who was the guy with the walkie talkie?

These guys and girls looked like they had fun, especially with the makeup. Nice concept, more work needed on the delivery. It seems like a young team, who after learning more about camera angles and quality sound should become alot better.

A very fun short; Ending confused me a bit; Keep story simple. :)

Beautifully shot and acted, with some great scenes. Camera work felt natural, which is rare in 48 Hours, and the concept was sound. The script could have been improved with fewer characters and a clearer narrative: while the scenes and concept were well communicated, the ending didn't quite hold together. Some great ideas and potential in this team, looking forward to their future efforts!

Mimey Vice had a lot of unspent potential. The idea of clowns vs mimes in some sort of turf war was brilliant, but unfortunately it wasn't explored as well as it could have been. There were some great moments in this film, the best of which was a clown getting angry and throwing his tiny car into the bushes and the subsequent reference to the family car being dented in the end. The mimes were definitely silent, but there was just not much there. They could have mimed a wall and thrown the clown into it, beaten him with an imaginary baseball bat, etc. Had we replaced the clowns and mimes with rivalling gangs, the film would have simply been a bit boring and disjointed. However, fair is fair and it was a good idea, and there's something I just love about the idea of a world where everyone's either a clown or a mime. The story did suffer a bit, and I never worked out why it was that the mimes killed the clowns in the end. You see, it wasn't really a clown and mime movie to me, it was just a bunch of people dressed as clowns and mimes, without the traits that define these two character types. Overall, a great idea which toppled a little in the execution. A valiant effort though.

Was quite boring and seemed to try very hard to please the audience.

A turf/drug war between mimes and clowns. Interesting concept but they didn't make the most of the possibilities. The car scene was funny but I was waiting for the mimes to put a clown in an invisible box that he then couldn't walk out of or one of the mimes running into an invisible wall so he couldn't get away from the clowns or a car pulling up and having 20 clowns get out of it etc but alas there was none of that. The potential was there but I felt it wasn't delivered but then maybe they wanted to do more with it but didn't have the time. However they could probably make a cool cult internet series out of the concept if they wanted to.
