Countdown to Redemption
This was a great film and one of my favourites from the heat. There were some great jokes and a solid story. I felt that the ending was rather predictable but not enough so to take away from the entertaining experience.
Is it Mexico?
This film was rather humorous and certainly well polished technically. I enjoyed the Mexican jokes but the story seemed to be lacking and I was often confused about what was happening.
Operator
This film shined above the rest of the heat for its technical quality and its acting but, like many others, the story was weak. I didn't understand what the film makers were trying to portray with the elevator theme. I am aware that it was a one room film but it felt predictable and confusing. I was reminded of Saw by the concept of a guilty character unwillingly trapped in a room to learn a lesson but the story wasn't pulled off effectively. I also would have liked to know what the point of the whole movie was, it seemed to end without explaining anything.
Truth Unseen
My favourite from the heat, this film was technically impressive and displayed, possibly, the strongest story of the heat. I was disappointed that they were disqualified. My only issue was perhaps with the witch, who I felt was predictable and could have been handled differently. This certainly didn't take away from the entertainment, however, great film! ..I also liked the team intro :)
Mysterious Black
This film was fairly well made technically but, like many others in this heat, the story was lost on me. It got a little slow and then confusing but the twist at the end brought it into perspective...even if it seems fairly predictable in hindsight.
