Off the Cuff

Excellent film. I was a little hesitant at least initially that this was going to be a mockumentary, although having said that the film blasts into gear with quickfire jokes such as the name the NZ equivalent of Cops being 'Beat Off'. I should have worried not as we get a plot turning point that really uses the found footage concept to good effect. Sure, not the most original re: death and documenting the antics that follow, but some really good topical laughs and particularly strong performances I was fairly sold on the idea that these people were just being followed rather than acting out scripted lines.

I laughed the whole way through! From the neat team intro to the very end it was a good film to start the evening. It was quite refreshing to see a found footage film that wasn't in the same vein as 'cloverfield' or blair witch'. Both are fine films but it was good to see a team think a little differently than the more obvious approach to the genre yet utilize some of the usual stylistic traits of the found footage genre. I liked the tv camera and sound guy were the lead characters (i assume with all their involvement and pov) rather than the 'criminal' couple. The fact they became implicit and participants in the couples antics was pretty neat, in a ferris buellers day off type way. The performances were very genuine and believable too. Entertaining and excellent film.

This short kept me entertained. It's not the most creative in terms of genre, elements or story but it was well produced and kept me laughing the whole way through. Some nice performances from the leads.

Found footage film which really worked with the concept after a pretty shaky start (oh god, not Reno 911 again - ah, sweet, it's NOT Reno911 again!) Particularly strong performance by stoner driver and soundie! Ultimately I felt that this was indeed unaired (i.e. found) footage and followed a cinematic (rather than television) format. Good work.

reasonably good & very fun found footage.. though the ending and middle killed it sadly... but I was being entertained with the ideas.. It was missing the reasonings/sense.. gave big laughs and I personally liked the boom op addition.. especially loved it while the boom crept into frame and everybody at heat were seeming to be thinking that was it intentional or accident.... the hostage/not so hostage thing was ridiculous but I *kind of* liked it.. but it needed something right there... and ending should have made at least sense to make this stand out.. And the lead actress of this film... was absolutely great! camera op could have acted a bit more than just sitting around too.. It had a good opportunity to be something better.. it had the tempo and ideas were great but... it was just going to way too many directions.. thanks for providing the fun - I enjoyed it overall and took some good inspiration from it!

Got a bit bored with this one ... but then I hate mockumentaries. It gave me a few laughs, but it was too long for me, and I found it all a bit pointless. The main actor did a good job though.
