I like your rhyming description, it leans into the musical haha. I love how musical this was! Like stage play type musical with dancing, and facial expressions you can see from seats at the back. I loved the shots of them close up to the camera as they were looking at the picture, and her intense longing. But oh my gosh the painting and that it was exactly what it looked like (great job with the peas and corn). I hope that the shot of her teeth gets you a best macro shot nomination haha, I gagged. Credit song was excellent too. I was horrified by this whole thing, awesome job haha

You could literally put shit on a wall, put an expensive frame around it and hang it in a famous gallery, and people will convince themselves it’s art. 😂

But that’s what makes the message of this film so interesting. What actually makes someone an “artist”? Is it the quality of the work, or is it the opportunity to have that work presented in the right place, by the right people, with the right price tag attached to it?

I especially loved the Van Gogh reference. The museum director proudly boasts about having Van Gogh on his wall — a man whose work was largely unappreciated during his lifetime and who only received widespread recognition after his death. Yet, in the very same breath, he refuses to give a struggling artist a chance.

That contrast says everything. Give someone access to prestigious galleries, expensive exhibitions and the right connections, and suddenly their work is considered important. Someone equally talented without those opportunities might never even get noticed.

In the end, maybe the art world is less about what you create and more about who gets the privilege of having their creation called “art.” It’s a privilege game — and this film makes that point brilliantly.
