This film was a little too arthouse for my tastes, but that seemed to be what they were going for (and have in the past), so kudos to them for sticking to their guns. The story was difficult to follow, and the jump-cut style didn't help, but there were some decent performances from their actors and the overall quality of their picture & sound were good.

One of the things I love the most about 48Hours is the diversity of the films on offer every year. I really do love seeing abstract art films amongst the comedies and dramas. Unfortunately, the problem with Let Cheating Gods Lie is that it's not actually a very good art film. It comes across as a drug fuelled excuse for self-indulgence and pretentiousness. The story, camera work and editing were all incoherent. I didn't get any message or meaning out of it and I didn't find it entertaining. The full frontal male nudity was gratuitous and unnecessary. Sorry :( I really do WANT to like this kind of movie. The main location they use looked incredible.

The first scene had me curious, loved the three characters walking in the gate. I thought this was going to be a great film! Unfortunately as soon as the characters entered the house, the sound, and visuals were so distracting (pitch issues and lensflare overload) I ended up just wanting it to be over. It felt like it was being arty for arts sake, without being thoughtful. The nudity/sex scenes seemed a bit gratuitous, not sure the story needed any of it.
