Daylight Horror

Nothing, Absolutely Just Nothing Daylight and horror does not go well either.. I was thinking this might be a fresh risky take to the genre but yet I just found another team who didn't even bother and ran some absolutely terrible jokes.. Highlight of the flick seemed to be (flick's point of view) the peeing over to lead character... Not cool... Though this might be horror for the dads/moms.. I also noticed your behavior in the comp.. terrible.. completely not in the spirit of 48hours.

Survival of the mutant

Some very personal touch in this one.. Technical bits were not just there but I guess it was just the part of the charm for 48hours.. sound was out of sync,VO was overpowered by the other audio and the comments were dodgy.. all you need I guess... would not rate it for best worst film just simply to hard dialogue/Vo.. best worst film needs simplicity kind of.. Play catch with puppies made me gringe..

End of the Saga

sure.. "How long is this going to take" mocky fantasy adventure.. boooring and ridiculous to the point that it wasn't fun.. the joke really didn't do me..

Double Check

Technical issues distracted me a lot and could not follow the story development that much.. the action bits were a bit cheeky too.. the child actress was great tho! I was also disappointed on how this ended.. so much juicing up with those re-timed motion effects and hookers.. this could have been more.. the twist did add but think it was rushed thru while the fast motion approach effect kind of saved it.. it was cool and really fit to the ending.. a tripod & some focus could have added a lot.. my main negativity & angst towards this film comes from the distractions caused by this.. Cool Stuff: Slow & re-timed motion was great when the house was approached.. Fast motion to the other kid in other house @ punch line/twist moment The kiddo at the other house was pretty convincing too! The hookers were a great addition Soundtrack Anyways - I'm sure you had fun doing this! And good to see great experimentation with re-timing motion and as you see it adds very well to movies.. it was used in right places.. next time tripod please..

GREAT Script, Execution & Originality .. AND in the very spirit of 48hours - BLOODY Innovative FUN HORROR! I think I love zombies again.. people debated wether it was a horror movie but I think it was.. for zombies! Some nice suspense there with a great story... and I'm sure there were some V zombies in the audience who could see the point of view for horror.. And all those puns around added to it's charm.. like go to pack and separate from the pack.. priceless! And that radio broadcast and what ever happened in that dinner table.. I laughed long and good.. And frigging great makeup etc consistent production values with small nifty details all around..! We just met.. Did you know him? Perfect POV switch story with some perfectly laid intense all around.. Hope to see you @ Finals! And def the best make-up of all Wellington 48hours Films this year too! Must have brainnnnnnnsssss....!

Witcher Grove

Good stuff team NITRO - Very ambitious try in the real spirit of v48hours.. Shame that you got traffic troubles (I sat next to you in heat Tim) to hand over this little gem one shot.. A narrated little story.. with relatively smooth flow and integrated elements.. with great location use.. and wonderfully timed execution... and girly girls were truly girly girls.. so nice detailed touch with AD & wardrobe all over the place! It should have shown a bit more action though of what happened inside.. the large windows definitely helped but could have improved a bit there.. The flow: Though there was an obvious cut (to me) in the middle where the line was crossed... EXT. lightning changed and suddenly the man was sitting on the right instead of left.. though the lightning could add to the story progression.. dunno what was the intention.. but the whole thing wasn't majorly obstructive though.. and most people I bet didn't notice it that much so overall still serves story okish.. .. as the cut that crossed the line (rules are meant for breaking hehe especially on this!).. was well transitioned with dissolve & diverted with girly girls passing.. to make it work for the one shot.. despite the sub-confusion.. perhaps intention was to add to story again as the narrator's role was supposed bit mystery till the end I guess..? stuff happens.. I loved those small details such as the feathers blown in the ending too... the slow motion from this was not too obvious.. good thing.. and "I did that" line really came at the ending as well but it could have been even more cunning ending as we saw where it was going to from start.. Technically it could use some work.. really needed some details there as I found it a bit sterile especially regarding the sound design.. Sound & VO Narrator: Though it might have added to it's charm - the sterile and out of sync low key VO that the visuals were integrated nicely to narrator otherwise.. The guitar rhymes worked well but it could have had some progression with the story instead of staying the same tunes... I guess this was rushed thru can feel it.. progression in score side would have added a lot here! And no SFX? I'm sure you know as you always distribute those effects to 48hours people every year.. perhaps there was no time and this was rushed.. shame.. I'm sure you know that this could have been brilliant with some effects going and made it a bit fun! ofc. should not overload it with effects but could have kept it less "contained" or "sterile" with the details from small SFX use.. Overall VO/SFX .. Needed less talk & more effects !:) The talking was little bit hard to digest though it added to it's overall charm as it was consistent. Cinematography & Grip: This one is sure hard to pull of with a DSLR.. I guess you didn't have wireless follow focus/monitor to do this rigged to some nice grip so you had to live with limited support.. it was a bit shaky at times and I could see the (auto) exposures changing when the window was approached.. some shake too but nothing that completely said to me that stop following the story.. there was a moment when the focus was lost to narrator quite obviously.. INT. Lightning served the story well but the EXT. especially in the night scene I saw cameraman shadow... where we also had the axis thing.. Overall the biggest technical distraction was the lack of score & sound.. or say rushed sound & score perhaps? Would be glad to see director's cut for this later! Story attempted tension driven by narrator.. but could have been more if we saw the action & reactions better.. Nice try for the genre and was good to see this.. gave me some inspiration..

YOLO

Absolutely beautiful inspirational with catchy ending & bucket list to do before the character dies.. Featuring a concerned mom and the rebel seeming son.. It all didn't make sense in the beginning.. but the ending really nailed it all.. BANG! The line use was a bit dodgy though.. I can't find from my notes how the rest of the elements were used.. must have been sucked in to the screen to watch the story hehe.. The technical bits let you down though, for next year please practice some camera skills, smoother tripod moves and better sound.. I felt there was quite bit de-noiser added in to the mix as it sounded quite bit compressed/alien.. basically it's garbage in garbage out for sound.. there are no magic plugins to save for bad sound.. This was first of the two YOLO films played in all Wellington heats.. and it was second very good take to inspirational by a school team - You're beating the adults on this genre with your cunning story.. If you manage to practice a bit & sort those technical bits down.. you will do great next year!

Dive Dive Dance!!!

Yep this a sure contender for the best worst film.. Code red BOOOOOM? Dive, Dive, Dive.. Nice art direction all around & B&W fit there nicely The music & dance could have been a bit more mixed up to give more badness to this baby... Code Green! Booom!

The Gathering

Very good one shot. Sound was OK but could have been better with less colored indoor reverb and clipping/distortion.. I could feel the tension going with those nice transitions especially.. lightning was shadowy in wrong places at some places but cinematography was excellent smooth anyhow My biggest disappointment was though the lack of ending..

Nicky Brick and the Funkys Licks

The best musical/dance entry from Wellington heats this year in my opinion! With very funny lines & small FUNK details that really made the film... like NAU NAU NAU...! In the spirit of 48hours.. and the genre perfectly spot on.. The sherif was something really really fresh that really made me laugh hard! And all those bits about leaf and father.. gold! I mean mixing a story about leaving because he wants to turn leaf like his father and then asking the lead to eat the leaf to gain FUNK..! intense!! And that line.. "I'm not bothering you with my family tree.." made me laugh hard And the crowning moments of this film at the climax.. the funk "climbing" in the pants & liftoff by literally lifting with a crane thing.. brilliant! Next year if you can improve those technical bits further.. you'll be seriously golden with this comp and people will turn literally into FUNK by just watching your entry!

It's a Dog's Life

inspirational piece featuring a dog & the owner that shows us the dog's point of view in contrast to owner's one I really liked the dog point of views especially when the owner came back home with blood in the car bumper (?sorry didn't get that why there was blood BUT it did make sense to dog's reaction worrying what happened?) and when the dog pushed the ball... would have been much better if it would have been more connected and tight piece.. with some story development integrated into the storyline.. technical: sound track was quite distorted at start

Silver Leaf

Great end of world flick with a solid - but - such a heartbreaking story.. features nice world ending stuff such as gangs/robbers, traffic jams, gas masks etc. and very nicely done past/present grey/color progression! soundtrack was awesome and the initial announcement really set the ball rolling for the story that is pretty important to establish the world ending.. from the forums I saw that this was shot with iPhone and sound recorded to it as well.. taken that.. very good technical work! only thing to comment on this is that you could have had windshield stuck to your microphone and a steadicam smoothee or something to hold that iphone when you had those moving shots.. and good use of NITRO's SFX too! I kind of hoped a twist for sad stuff.. killing all the good people is heart breaking as there was no hope to be seen.. solid work team Colonial Tech!

Sunday in the Park with Mary

Musical - with love & rejection. Interesting concept. The contrast of rejection was nice and I could relate to the male actor.. sadly the technical bits let me down.. some musical bits were ok but the story dragged..

I Heart NZ?

boring political solo rap about NZ.. and not much comedy.. or romantic either.. was perhaps trying to cover the romatic parts with paris etc other references in contrast.. and the video gogh/paint effect was terrible all over kind of sad..

Mother's Day Out

very experimental hehe.. nothing really added into.. or continued.. the story.. only vaguely continuing element seemed to be the ashes thing and the odd soundtrack if you can call it that.. and what was that attack slow motion effect/attack to ashes holder trying to say.. must have been fun shooting that but..

Climb

Very well done inspirational! This was one of the few stories I could easily just be sucked in.. I could relate to the lead character well.. to make something happen one would need to push him/herself.. through struggles.. leading to the very well used 'I did that' line.. crowning the whole purpose of this film.. The wheelchair.. was perfect at the end.. made me suddenly realize what the whole struggle was all about.. making the story come together nicely.. Acting was also superb by the lead making it very believable struggle...

Monkey Business

Good use of Zoo location and very dancy too integrated within the storyline. with a convincing problem & struggle for lead to get the two grand.. It didn't make much sense at times but.. Humor was well within the spirit of 48hours.. toothbrush for toilet cleaning.. classic.. the action was quite bit straightforward and could have been a bit better than just "I did that" Montages could have been a bit funnier as it was a bit straight forward action action rather than fun bits thrown at it in the spirit of the rest of the short ideology.. And the ending.. wasn't quite there.. the story could have used some improvement.. additionally with some reasonings etc..

Off the Cuff

reasonably good & very fun found footage.. though the ending and middle killed it sadly... but I was being entertained with the ideas.. It was missing the reasonings/sense.. gave big laughs and I personally liked the boom op addition.. especially loved it while the boom crept into frame and everybody at heat were seeming to be thinking that was it intentional or accident.... the hostage/not so hostage thing was ridiculous but I *kind of* liked it.. but it needed something right there... and ending should have made at least sense to make this stand out.. And the lead actress of this film... was absolutely great! camera op could have acted a bit more than just sitting around too.. It had a good opportunity to be something better.. it had the tempo and ideas were great but... it was just going to way too many directions.. thanks for providing the fun - I enjoyed it overall and took some good inspiration from it!

A Problem With Tomatoes

Good interaction with the audience but I didn't find much to whine about the sound still ;) .. and I think I saw couple of angry rats trying to find your brownies that were not there.. so sad.. but yeah.. lemon tree.. tomatoes.. satanic ritual.. err.. got a bit confused and the jokes didn't really do for me.. more story could have done you favor and less dialogue..

Shadowplay

suffered from technical problems.. the light gel was rattling there at the crucidial ending scene.. really distracted me from it.. and the AC was not turned off at the house location so it took me away from the dialogue parts momentarily.. overall was a bit 'what happened?' and too much dialogue ridden that makes it harder to follow. i liked those 'screw arounds' though and acting otherwise was quite solid but sadly technical & dialogue especially let this film down for me.

Escaping Eden

This was very entertaining film for me and the costumes were well thought out :-) The leaf I found was used very well and the ending with "I was looking for that" put me puzzling what it was for actually.. kind of twist..? and that nipple scratch was fun little addition though it was kind of cheesy. it would need work on the story side but it had lots of potential to be really good :) try again next year *please*

Nicky Brick and the Funkys Licks

Raw Chains

Reminded me of Paranormal activity. The found footage genre fit nicely with the psychology fear-play horror style of this movie... Great work capturing the initial tension: The joker guy fit nicely.. and really set the initial horror mood & tension.. first by being funny face and scaring off everybody with the "I did that" joke.. before.. he got all serious and shouted "I did NOT do that" .. priceless! ;) very good use of the line there... and I think "I did that" & "I did NOT do that" was very nice rhyming line combo! Despite the initial tension... the horror piano (hitchcock made a reference that he likes to play his audience like a piano..) seemed a bit out of tune.. could have added more something that really defines the end of the horror as well.. the big splat point.. just seeing simply the dead people etc after everything is nice but... it really needs some action thingys or hints to what happened rather than pure blacks... like something to suggest that why there are dead bodies all over the place.. even better if it's a slow buildup with more and more hints coming as the story progresses.. sure it can be hard in 48hours but you had such a great start! And as this was found footage.. the ending fit nicely to this genre... with carage door open and big man walking slowly towards the camera.. cool addition! Overall nicely done!

SHE'S OUT OF THIS WORLD

a tale about a pre-arranged galactic royal marriage.. featuring a princess who wasn't so keen to marry the strongest warrior in the galaxy.. Reminded me about 5th element and it's ending.. the love.. used as power source.. to be the strongest warrior in this flick.. the execution was failing a bit... with some sound issues.. I liked the transitions between the two planets.. but it didn't save this flick.. nor the montage about the two falling in love with each other didn't do much.. How the final 'just say love me' struggle part was cooked up.. didn't work that well either.. it was looking a bit forced & blocky.. didn't do me this year and didn't offer much new from this team.. all that vfx was great as usual.. and lovely wardrobe that this team never lets down with.. and that team intro... very cute!

Hira's Tree

Good on you trying something serious Nimlin, The character development & story let me down.. And suddenly we are at the plate break scene.. after lots of talking.. that was supposed to make sense to everything.. bad luck? B&W didn't serve much meaning either.. and music transitions were a bit.. inexistent? I will have to watch again when ever this is in the screening room. Overall.. It just didn't have the cinematic elements to be the serious film I wanted to see and hear..

Fall

Ending revealed some apparent (I think) plot but rest of the film made no sense in relation.. something about family planning etc.. execution lacked.. ending could have used some work too.. story, action, continuity, pacing all that.. and too much long running shots.. should have more something that matters to the story... I liked that how you communicated with the audience on your team intro though.. if next year could relate this to your stories that would suck the audience into your story.. from the beginning to the end.. you will be in fine path

Sticks and Stones

So the last years winners.. late.. shame.. Some shaky camera in there, overloaded with CGI, really nice costumes, soundtrack and good acting... but.. story didn't hold together despite all the random fantasy bits thrown at it... Less CGI next time... and more stable camera and a bit attention to the story.. it would definitely work for your advantage.. Ask yourselves do you really really need *all* that CGI.. and rather ask yourselves how it would serve the story..

Leafal Interests

Zubab? there was one odd sound effect in there too.. confusing & distracting.. mockumenting how obsessive collectors habits can go.. could have used a bit of story.. this one was straight heading to check out the missus with a consequence.. ...but wait! there is a golden leaf..! somewhere there..

Case #23

in the spirit of 48hours, investigative crime flick sugared with office relationship drama. I liked the cunning reveal in the ending.. where the scientist was revealed as guilty for those crimes.. featuring a leaf tattoo.. with the cunning nature related motivation.. nailing the line there as well.. Though a lot of 48hours flicks had the "I did that" line after they killed somebody etc.. though you had it off after a cunning reveal.. nice Audience laugh point: "I thought you wanted me" Technical bits let you down though.. soft light (or hard through diffusion gels/silk) would helped with lab scenes.. and sound.. was terrible.. think if you need that dialogue next time and think hard where you are shooting it relative to your equipment/skills.. shooting dialogue next to some heavy traffic.. is not usually the easiest/doable job.. also windshield would definitely help.. very easy to do with no budget even.. You're on a very good path though - hope to see you next year! fix those sound issues and it will be muuuch better..

When the time comes

too much dialogue and got bored very quickly.. Looked & Sounded OK and the music was the typical thing we hear in elevators though it fits the one-scene movie. Props to keeping the technical qualities up though.

Sunday in the Park with Mary

The scale confused me again - Was meant to give two stars so I will compensate with 2 + 1/2 - Sorry

Dead Market

in the spirit of 48hours, brilliant & fun inspirational flick how the world should end the problem with unemployment.. Key message: "There are jobs for everybody, put that pipe down" In this flick the lead was failing on every job.. providing some repeat about failures.. progression could have been better here.. but the ending absolutely saved it.. lead going freelancing and getting commission from the morgue for deaths he was causing :) Good job! Your team intro was great too.. really established the team name haha.. this flick was nicely in the spirit of 48hours..! and that shot with all that blood coming from the cut hands.. brilliant! Elements: I did that was used a bit obstructive, slow motion was not a bit dodgy, some leaf was seen during one of the jobs. technically sound was above average (could have been better still) and it could have used some music etc.

Not One Tear

Very strong contender for the finals surely! BEAUTIFUL Heartwarming & Engaging inspirational puppets story.. with some teary punch! I truly cared for the characters and their emotions.. and was able to just dive into the story and enjoy the magic of movie story telling throughout of it.. And I really really loved how this story ended with solving the lead's problem bringing the two closer... Technical bits & Execution didn't let this story down either - pleasure to watch & hear: The blending of the real life / sets was just pure greatness, fantastic cinematography & art direction all over the places.. great details everywhere for example the tears were priceless! Music also was perfect for this.. but what was that rain sound at the end? :) btw great use of tilt/shift photography .. or was it done in post? :) As Mr Einstein said it: "Simple as possible"

BRICK

action where the actress in urgency spends a lot of time putting helmet on before fleeing with a horse to lay the plan to revenge for killing of her hubby.. priceless! I enjoyed overall but small things like sound effects from NITRO's free library (distributed in the forums) could have really added to your movie :) and less dialogue could have added as well... as I'm sure you didn't have much sound equipment there.. some royalty free music that could have been added would have worked better.. dialogue unless if it's really really needed and you can frame the shot tightly so you can capture good sound instead of dogs barking nearby and stable camera.. kudos for that! and the fight at the end.. great & nice moves .. really put smile on my face! overall good potential.. if you can overcome that technical & editing fuss.. it would be great piece from you next year I'm sure! Thanks for the entertainment! Loved the line "You bastard!" too

The Sunnybrook Diaries

my mates from the last year.. team of four people... cool what you did with those jokes & characters... though.. but why why you want to kill those characters always with not much character development.. was a bit too straight forward with no catch :-) guess you went for the 48hours charm and I think it paid off a little.. could have been something more easily.. like why say human flesh.. you could have easily put your own concept there.. ending overall let me down that was tried to be covered with cheesy reporting.. good try on animation.. but could have nailed it's genre & elements a bit better..

Office Fantasy Challenge

competition tv-series imitation didn't really work for this one.. it was trying to be fun I guess.. probably you just had the office location but the tv-references didn't really add anything.. the competition didn't have the beat and it was a bit slow going there.. so it was hard to follow what was the scoreboard.. also there were a lot of ideas in the mix but together these didn't come together as single package.. better choose the ones that add into the agreed story.. and be very picky.. I really liked the female actor who were calling the comps and was there time to time to kick people.. the barbarian and elf etc didn't really add much compared to the wiz.. I guess it wanted to be a teaching story that barbarian who helped the elf wins (good people win) but it wasn't really pulled off if the intention was to do that... there should have been more going on between the comp characters as well... thanks for trying though at least it had single big concept..

The Wellington Job

Silent talky wannabe-noir film.. featuring a bar robbery with an awkward moment.. The visuals were inconsistent.. B&W/Color needs to have solid meaning and how it was all pulled together shot by shot seriously let this flick down.. and acting was just a bit blocky.. relying on talking that didn't come thru well at times.. instead of using cinematic visual/sound to do the same thing.. I would suggest some editing practices to understand the juxtaposition and pacing better and please think if you need all that talking and figure out if you can tell that without using talking that is hard to digest at times especially if there are challenges with sound.. And think of the character development, genre & elements too when writing the script and not just the ending.. and if you want noir you better have all the elements like art direction, costumes etc that make it noir.. simple B&W effect/filter doesn't simply do it and will look cheap... Simple, as possible.

2 GUYS 1 SLUT

Triangle between - as the movie says - 2 guys & 1 slut I loved the charmy stunts by the "stalker" & charmy fight + montage.. staring contest was just gold! However.. technical bits.. the microphone absolutely needs a windshield and sound could use quite bit improvement.. And but... the fireworks with the catch was absolutely great!

Nicky

not very erotic.. or superhero.. this tried to be horror.. connect the dead.. haunting.. The elements were not integrated very well either.. Nick, prostitute from 18 years back come to haunt the scrabble players.. with straightforward killing.. "Can we talk to elvis" & "What's with your eyes" Details such as rocker chair going added but there wasn't enough of these if this was meant for horror... the plot was flat..

The Fruitalian Job

fun & fruity crime flick.. about fruit smugglers.. It was bloody fun and really fruity-moody pumping all over the place..! all those fruit dealer references and how the action happened.. like for example the dealer flushing his apples down the toilet and then eating the apple when it didn't flush.. priceless!! gave the biggest laugh from the audience.. the ending and bad sound let you guys down though.. what was that an apple a day keeps the bad guys away doing for the story? it had potential to end really good.. and really great acting by the dealer.. he gave 110% to this.. for the element.. i really loved how the leaf was used.. apple leaf used as investigative lead to the apple dealer... fit nicely and had it's own charm for this flick.. next time please please think about if you need all that dialogue especially if you have issues with sound.. like not having any windshield in the mic.. thanks for the great entertainment though! the mood of this movie with all those fruits going around was great and the cinematography was good too..! props for keeping the camera stable! line to remember: "Those bastards!"

Leafmageddon

this had some very nice apocalyptic references but should have been adding more to the story that should have ended somehow.. the soundtrack reminded me of jericho...

Sunday in the Park with Mary

The scale confused me again - Was meant to give two stars so I will compensate with 2 + 1/2 - Sorry

Have You Met My Sister

awkward party goer crashes a cult suicide party .. Well executed & timed one shot that wasn't let down technically either.. Some cheeky fun moments in there that generated nice laughter around.. at times it was a bit blocky action after the two cultists started to make out but nothing too major.. the leaf also added nice taste to the bool of death.. didn't really look like the world ending if this was supposed to be one

Playback

Two words to describe this film.. over complex.. at least for 48hours.. This was a heavy hard to follow talky and some more talky with rewinds in the middle flick.. too much to digest.. I how ever really liked how the found footage was laid out and there was some serious story going on with some slick production values.. but.. it was too much to digest and gave me a stomach ulcer from all that talking digested..

Battle Royale with Cheese

Shortest film ever. Good night scenes.. thats about it.. people just shooting each other and odd line "who did that" "i did" *BANG* .. end

V-Log of a Madwoman

That great team intro video featuring the english royals prepared me to receive something very creative.. I wasn't let down! Boyfriend experiments by a picky woman scientist.. I loved how the leaf was used on this one.. as an experiment ingredient this created a naturalist bf.. I mean literally leaf equipped naturalist.. no brains though so off the FAILED pile it was.. Sadly this all was a little too much repeating action.. the progression & ending could have offered something story wise.. instead of jumping in linear fashion to the fly bit and random slaughterhouse action with that camera knock-over.. the fly was nice addition but it didn't give much surprise or add much into the story.. but at least that all was consistent where so much films have let down.. On editing wise this could have been improved a lot.. for example the fast forward bits were a bit slow and didn't offer much detail/surprises.. how the bf candidates were killed could have been improved too.. And what really shined on this film.. that great art department was above the top! Great work!

It Tolls For Thee

flick about man's compulsive dancing upon ring'a'bell too much heavy dialogue oriented for a musical/dance flick.. and the sound/picture kept changing between the two head shots that distracted from heavy dialogue technically... not just my type of flick.. cross fades could have helped.. it was a shame as the sound seemed to be captured OK but fades missing.. I did get some good laughs from some of the awesome dance moves!

Displacement

almost started to sleep

Face Plant

musical about somebody wishing to get some (belly dancing?!) contract or.. as per singer's line "this is my chance" who were signing at places.. in contrast to people singing their lines that were out of sync a bit often at the house where the singer was apparently heading to.. singer's hopes only to trashed by the butler of the house who somehow got the contract.. after singer puking to the leaf at the house.. apparently caused by the stuff butler added to the drink that singer grabbed (looked like accidentally) when coming to the house.. most of the stuff going around was confusing & wasn't very clear for the story.. this would have needed a bit work and could have been much better .. I personally liked the line "Thanks for that bitch I'll be rich" ..

Legend of the Eternal Leaf

Exploring the urban forest(?) legend thing.. with some nice old fashioned wardrobe that set this back in time.. Cinematography of this flick was nice and clean.. I liked especially the smooth intro and how the glowing leafy thing was lit up where the whole story culminated up to.. Could have been more story wise.. but I liked the clean looks & simpleness of this.. good work still! Wikipedia though says that urban legend doesn't need to locate in urban area but it does say something about industrial era.. perhaps more clear genre elements and modern wardrobe would have been good..

Kids These Days

thanks for the well scripted & produced film.. and especially thanks for the great sound of this! simpliness of this film really paid off.. it reminded me of transporter and all those serial killer action movies where the serial killer wanted to retire and couldn't pull the trigger anymore.. the dwarf (or pygmy?) showed some real nice action and the ending was terrifying .. for the serial killer that had some nice action reactions there for the big splat point ... priceless! I felt that there was a bit too much juicing up at the start and could have had something more though.. and more importantly story & genre wise.. it had more action bits than any true crime elements... as the crime elements were there only in the dialogue in the beginning.. establishing that they were killers and they had a problem.. something was missing overall great! thanks for the entertainment!

Shadow Play

Timelapses and some lovely cheesy moments with the shadow. It was nice idea but lack of story let this film down. Also featured: Credits to be added

Case #23

in the spirit of 48hours, investigative crime flick sugared with office relationship drama.

Dead Market

in the spirit of 48hours, brilliant & fun inspirational flick how the world should end the problem with unemployment..

Double Check

Sorry this is correct star rating - my first review and the scale fooled me..

Nicky

not very erotic.. or superhero.. this tried to be horror.. connect the dead..

The Fairy & I

knock off to the fantasy land.. Good on you sticking to your genre & the elements.. with a simple progressive plot.. with the falling leaf.. I felt it was ridiculous but in the spirit of 48hours it had it's charm.. audience gave big laugh as well... especially to those slow motion faces & closeups of the bridge troll's face.. I hated the crackling voice of the witch.. it didn't add much.. the ending could have been better too..

How the final 'just say love me' struggle part was cooked up.. didn't work that well either.. it was looking a bit forced & blocky.. didn't do me this year and didn't offer much new from this team.. all that vfx was great as usual.. and lovely wardrobe that this team never lets down with.. and that team intro... very cute!

Release of the Monkeys

some good emotional psychopathic action and some nice try on dialogue. The falling camera during one of the takes was nice addition. Next year please work little more on script - hope to see you again as I think you've got some potential seeing those emotions flowing.

The Score

superhero casanova.. not bad.. with the obvious stalker.. though it could have used some more story.. and I think a windshield to your microphone could have done wonders.. or say better sound in general for the dialogue could have done wonders.. at least to convey the point of people who wanted to cut the casanova's arms off.. and in the ending it was great to see the superhero lived true to his life.. despite his hands suffering from the tragic event at the pool place.. next time please think if you really need all that dialogue.. and if the hands were so special.. think of how to emphasize that point more..

The Orb of Truth

Technical issues (sound mainly) distracted me from the film at the very start... There were fun moments on this film but sadly it wasn't enough to save the film nor these add much to the story.. At the ending there was that cool motion shot but it was in big contrast to the rest of the movie...

Full-Night

a seduced man.. after a hook-up.. ended up to as a piece of art.. excellent classical music fit the story.. and nice how the piano was integrated in the beginning.. when things got little bit too eager (for good) from the man's part.. there were few flaws though.. I saw the guy laughing oddly and the sex stuff was a bit too long perhaps.. and ending perhaps being the biggest flaw.. could have used more visible action... or just something over there... rather than just the long shot of the woman watching... shown as being perhaps happy of her work.. the piece of artwork that was not too much visible at the end.. the art department/location (or was this was just a gallery ready to be used?) fit the flick also nicely.. the leaf.. used as a necklace.. was in good use for this erotic piece.. teasing the man with it.. very erotic.. the line.. 'I did that' referring to the human piece of art in distance.. that got the lead a bit confused was a bit obstructive... in too much contrast with the other action seen there without smooth transition.. but this at the end culminated the point of it when the 'art show audience' was revealed... leading to understanding that the guy was going to be a piece of art... just like the one referred as 'I did that' earlier... overall very well style-integrated piece.. and simple for good.. technical bits didn't let this flick down.. nice gallery typeof lightning supporting the story... only if the ending would have worked better.. and few bits there and there fixed... and perhaps for example if there would have been somebody among that audience playing a piano along the soundtrack.. uncovered as part of the rest of the audience too.. it would have perhaps added a nice touch to ending :) anyways thank you for this still nicely integrated erotic entertainment! well done!

Better Dance Good

Bloody funny dance! In this dance competition the host was really hard to please.. Some nice ideas for the losers there.. like throwing the first off the windows was bloody hilarious... and the winner had some nice slow mo moves.. The ending provided a nice twist with the winner.. I was thinking if there is going to be another kill and was already thinking its on clear.. but wait.. dead too! The ending could have been better if it was reasoning how the last one was killed.. The winning sound effect was a bit distracting but it was minor thing compared to this movie overall... nice work and some nice dancing too :)

Finding Rose

I got distracted by the technical issues so that it was hard to follow what was happening. I liked the tragedy soldier or the guy with that black cloack and obviously there was quite bit of effort put into this but I feel that the complexities let you down.. I'm sure your next years short could add some big contrast to this year as you got some nice ideas if you practiced a bit.. would be nice to see you next year!
