What is VF48HOURS: LOCKDOWN?

The Vista Foundation 48Hours was built around the idea of creative restrictions and with one of the biggest restrictions - a nationwide lockdown - we devised a mini filmmaking challenge for those creative individuals who are stuck at home. The shoot weekend ran on April 17th - 19th 2020.

First prize was $5000, with a total prize pool of $10,000.

Teams had just 48 hours to write, shoot, cut and deliver a film up to 3 minutes long.

Filmmakers didn't know what genre (thriller/romance etc) they would be shooting until the start of the competition. All creativity: writing, shooting, editing and adding a musical soundtrack, had to occur within the 48Hour window beginning Friday evening at 7 pm and ending Sunday at 7 pm.

To add to the mayhem, they also had to include some specific elements - a photographc, an echo and an arc shot.

VF48HOURS: LOCKDOWN is made with the support of New Zealand on Air, The Vista Foundation and The New Zealand FIlm Commission, with broadcast partners TVNZ and The Spinoff.
