Uploading film

So this question gets asked every year but it doesn't seem like there's ever a definitive answer..

If our team hasn't been announced as a finalist, can we upload our film?

I've read the rules top to bottom and it doesn't seem like there's anything saying that we can't.

Thoughts anyone? :)

The rules state that you shouldn't do it until we are told to do so, after the judging rounds. There's been no specific post telling us to upload them. But the screening room has been updated to allow 2015 films so I think in a way that speaks for itself and is telling teams they can upload their films.

I see nothing wrong with it if you aren't nominated for a city final. Your film won't screen at the final. At best you might be nominated for another award, and that may just mean a small clip of your film is played. If they have no plans for showing your film again then I think you should be able to upload it. Hopefully it has no effect on the judging for other awards. I don't really see why it would.

I agree it seems unclear. Personally I'd hold off until the category nomination are in.

Also, I wonder if there is any direct link from the screening room to the reviews section? Is there a magic link to connect an entry in one to its listing in the other, because the comments section in the screening room doesn't seem to get much use.

Wouldn't it be cool to see the reviews under the movie on the same page. Might be a bit more of a conversation then. Wonder if this is technically feasible?

We had an email from our city manager on Monday. It was quite clear: unless you are one of the 12 city finalists, then you could upload your film and add to the screening room.

Wait a second? I didn't get an email from the Ham City manager? I've checked my junk folder repeatedly... HELP!

*Breathe* :)

Their city manager is a different one to yours, but all they're saying is "a city manager" from "a certain city" has confirmed that you can upload if you're not a finalist.

It just so happens your city manager hasn't sent anything out (and they don't have) but the same rules apply to everyone.

You're all good!
