2019 Thoughts

It wouldn't be the 48 Hour weekend without a few ups and downs.
For the second time I received the Musical/Dance genre, and for the second time I thought of ways to quietly exit the competition, before doubling down on an idea my wife said not to do :p

Thankfully, the team loved the idea, got completely bought into it, and for the first time started planning out a one-shot movie. Really stoked with how well it all turned out, and can't wait to see what people think.

Loved the elements this year, as I usually feel having a line of dialogue ends up feeling a little too forced or, if you watch a few of the year's movies, a tad repetitive and distracting. Wind, laughter, overhead shot, double-take, are all perfectly subtle enough to be used without distraction. Love it.

11 years and 21 films later I'm going to try something I've never done before: take a year off.

Stock Footage- Thoughts?

I'd be pretty keen to understand for next year if this rule would stay.
So it means that any footage that is copyright free could be used this year?

Calling all Wellington teams

Well that was awesome. Some seriously great teams that saw the fun in what I was trying to do. It filled my weekend and emptied my gas tank.

Here's a list of the awesome teams, the genres, the time I joined them, and the suburb I had to get to.

1: Squid Squad - Horror Comedy - 8am Tawa
2: Lovely Bongo Drums - Z-Grade and ULTRA - 10:15 Hataitai
3: 341 - Thriller - 11:30 Vic Uni
4: Sawn Ronson - Bad Seed - 14:15 Petone
5: Dog and Wolf - Xmas - 15:15? Newtown
6: High Anxiety - Domestic Psychological Thriller - 17:00 Strathmore
7: ? - ? - 7:30 From home
8: Catch 48 - Buddy film - 8:40 Kelburn
9: Obself - Bad Seed - 9:50 Newtown
10: Where’s Anderson - Fantasy - 10:45 Mt Vic
11: 400 Stinkin’ Feet - Fairy Tale - 12 Silverstream

I think my voiceover didn't make it into film 7's, but I do think I have a role to play in at least every heat in Wellington.

You were all amazing people, and I was super proud to be a TINY part of what you lot were making this weekend.

Alright, I've put together a Facebook event where people can get in touch with when and where they need me.

Pretty excited to see how other teams work after spending so long with one group.

Okay, so there's no messaging system in these forums, so I'll be putting up contact details later this week.
I've already had 3 teams confirm some time with me, but I'd love to see those numbers increase. :D

Ultra 48, just how bad could it be 😉

in reply to dramamike:

A lot of people on our team have been wanting to do an F*Dance sequel for way too long.

Calling all Wellington teams

It's with sadness that due to the day the competition is landing, Puppyguts won't be submitting a film this year. That means that our streak ends at 10.

To celebrate what would've been my 11th year in the comp I was hoping to do something a little..... different.

I would like to donate my services over the shoot weekend to any and all Wellington teams. I would like to star somewhere in your film. Guy walking in background? I can do it. Want me sitting somewhere in a shot? I've been sitting my whole life! I'd like to show up, get in at least a single shot, and move onto the next team. I'll be available from 7pm Friday until 7pm Sunday.... although you really shouldn't be leaving it that late.

My goal is to cameo in as many films over the weekend as possible. If you don't know who I am, take a look at some of the films in my signature... I'm usually the bearded guy that's been put into awesome situations, so you'll know I'll do anything.......... (I may not do nudity.... but.... you never know).

If you're keen to help me help you, shoot me a message here, or give me a PM
(does this forum do PMs?) and spread the word if you know others doing the comp.

Cheers!

Auckland Finalist Predictions!

And it only gets better. Seeing your movie, the one you put so much effort into, on the big screen at the finals is fantastic. Not being certain if you're going to win an award as finalists are being read out is also an amazing stress. 8 years of hard work has gone into this one mate, good luck!
