Animation computer workstations

Hello, I’m getting more and more into animation these days and was wondering what are some of the best places to buy computers for this particular purpose?

Right now my general style is either 2d animation paper/cardboard cutouts loaded into after effects in to a 3D-ish sort of environment or forgoing the physical cutouts and making it all within after effects and photoshop.

I’m not the best with computers and tried doing my own search for places but couldn’t really find anything.

Thanks

Filling up the screening room

We got there in the end, we tried the email address instead of the team name and that got us through :)

Missing sections

The new website layout looks good but I noticed that some of the sections in the forums are missing?

Like the tech section, I can't find that section anymore?

Terra Cine camera

I think it looks like a fabulous camera. Hopefully one of the New Zealand camera shops will start selling there products at some point.

A good alternative to things like the Red Camera range and others ?

Don't they also have a full frame video camera in the works ?

Terra Cine camera

Has anyone had any experience with this camera ?

http://www.kinefinity.com/terra/?lang=en

I dont know too much about video camera's and wasnt really aware of companies in the sub $10000 camera range outside of the canons, sony's, blackmagic and panasonic .

Then i heard about kinefinity last week and there range of camera's. Ive just seen some small companies cobble together parts here and there and make things that aren't that great but then other times they can actually be really good.

Christmas

Did anyone out there do a Shane black/die hard style action movie or have a red rider BB gun or leg lamp in their film ?

Stock Footage- Thoughts?

After seeing rogue 1, the Bourne ultimatum and the thing I would of liked it if the organisers had given the option of prequel as well as sequel for the ultra segment of the competition.

Would be cool to see a film start off with lots of mystery then come back a year later and make a prequel that leads up to it.

Ultra 48, just how bad could it be 😉

Yes maybe the reason they are asking for proof that you have entered 4-5 + in previous years isn't just to show that you are experienced.

I think it would be fun to revisit past films in some way, although casting and things might be difficult.

Imagine if each team had a customized set of criteria based on there previous films in the competition. Would be quite an extra work load for the organizers though.

Animation short

Thanks ! Filming in doors with proper lighting really helped things. usually we film the green screen shots outside and have to deal with wind catching the green screen and the light changing.

We were also lucky to have proper uniforms and props this time.

Setting yourself a challenge for this year

We used a cardboard mini gun that a friend made in 3-4 of our early 48 hour films.

LOVE.EXE Post-mortem

Saw your film at the final sam and thought it was fabulous too.

I've always wanted to do some sort of animation for the competition but I fear my time management isnt anywhere near quick enough to get it done with in 48 hours.
