Changes to Awards

in reply to Rastinha:

Totally agree on Best Animation/ Best VFX combination. It's a crock. One's a genre and one's well ... effects. Extremely disappointed by this one and wondering how the hell it happened. Who was in the room? Were they high?

Reviewers

Reviews can get quite personal can't they? You can sometimes want to reach into the computer, grab the reviewer firmly by the shoulders and shake him or her to and fro while yelling "Why ... don't ... you ... get ... it ... ???"

I don't mind constructive criticism/feedback, that's what makes you better. But sometimes the reviewer's comments are just .... dumb.

This is Dog's Breakfast's sixth year and we have done only three "lego films." Our first in 2009 was an act of desperation since it was 4am Sunday morning and the live action we had filmed was shit. The resulting short was shit as well. But it was fun to make (or not make if your definition involves actually finishing with something that has a beginning, a middle and an end!)

In 2010 we again did Lego cos there was only two of us in the team and we wanted to show that we did actually know what we were doing. (My favourite of our entries by the way)

And this year we did Lego again cos, guess what? WE ENJOY IT!

There are some teams out there with enviable access to some incredibly talented actors, the best equipment and some great script writers. We happen to have a shitload of Lego.

Next year "no matter what genre the team are given" we may do a "lego film" again!

Scandalous.

Rant over.

AUCKLAND AUDIENCE FAVOURITES

in reply to themorgan:

Yeah ... four people in a full theatre do not an audience rig make. And, might I add, our team members and hangers on have voted for other shorts in the past.

We vote what we like, and sometimes, we like someone else's work better on the night.

Perhaps I could explain it better ... with a montage?

To the Guy who held up the TV3 sign on TVNZ's live

in reply to Stephen Press:

Hear hear! Do these guys know that we think they are all idiots? The "Hi Mom!"s and the dudes flashing 'peace' signs are a personal favourite. Not. Back in the day I got to the stage where I would just go up to them and say "You know that makes you look like a dick right? Was that your intention?"
