I'm not a veteran at this, but what I learnt from 2011 (when I did it last was),
The V that they give you makes you unpredictable. Ration it or don't drink it. We were up really late and drank a lot of V and yeah... there were a lot of fights. A member of our team actually ended up walking out because she couldn't handle the pressure. I hate V so I drank Pepsi the entire time and I was loopy by the end of it. Anything that's incredibly caffeinated is a bad idea, despite what you might think.
Feed your team well. I've learnt this from other shoots and if your team isn't fed, they get grouchy, which cues the disagreements, and believe me, you don't need those. It tends to get cold at night around this time of year, so we're mainly doing soups and hot things that are really filling.
And, make sure you know how to use your equipment. We're a teen team and I didn't exactly think things through last time, so we were left without a camera operator so one of the parents had to step in. In hindsight, it wasn't the best decision I have ever made...
Good luck to all of you. :)
