I think the competition is a great opportunity for someone.

This is my own opinion (NB I have no connection to Budgie)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - and each is just as valid as the other.

in reply to Fleet:

Well, no, everyone's opinion isn't equally valid. Leaving the conversation here aside, it's the kind of thing people say when they don't have the courage of their convictions, and demonstrably untrue. Are the opinions of flat earth believers as valid as those who believe the earth is round? Etc etc.

As for lightening up, man, I wish Rosa parks had lightened up and just moved to the back of the bus, because I, too, am afraid of people who stand up for themselves.

Lol no, but I can see how it would look like that. More pointing out the awful places that attitude leads to.

This competition makes me queasy. Especially given as it is about the number of likes/sign-ups rather than any kind of ad-making skill.

It's like street teams for a power company.

I once asked a bunch of plumbers to come and do some work at my house... they could do 10 minutes work or a few hours, it was up to them. I told them I would inspect all of their work and pay a 10th of the invoice to the one who's work made me give a kick-ass thumbs up (I would also give a 2nd and 3rd prize coffee to really sweeten the deal). They said no guys... THEY SAID NO!! What a bunch of A-holes. I was offering them a great opportunity to hone their skills... I wasn't forcing them to come and do it. It was almost as if they had a very particular skill, a skill that they were trying to make a living off. Such greed.

Winky face.

Is that not the same as the conditions of 48hours? I am sure I clicked "agree" on something along those lines...

From what I remember, the 48 hour agreement states that they can distribute it how they like for a couple of years, but they don't own the other rights. And after those couple of years are up, you're free to do whatever the hell you like re: distribution (people feel free to correct me if I remembered wrong - I haven't double checked).

I didn't mind the Budgie competition rules and prize before (not useful for pro people in the industry, but if a random made that money I'm sure they'd be happy), but I deeeefinitely don't like that stipulation.
