Watch my movie - a plea for reviews

I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where people can post their movies if they want them to be reviewed. This is particularly for those (like me) who didn't get very many reviews of their film in their heat. If you put a film in this thread, I will review it.

Here's my film. I'll take all reviews: good, bad, belligerent, insulting. I can take it.

ok... think i got through them all... let me know if I missed anyone (reviews user-name is wiki). I tried to be as honest and helpful as I could as a n00b myself...

I may have been a little harsh on some and a little glowing on others but I am an inexperienced reviewer as well as an inexperienced filmmaker... so sorry about that...

I was struggling not just to tell everyone that their film was awesome - which was mostly my gut reaction... really tried to give some constructive improvements... .... Please review us in reciprocation :) (R17 Production House - Blade of Insomnia - Wellington Heat 8)

It was on four shots. One on the title, one on the following shot of the bourbon, one on the close-up of the flush and the really bad one was on Vic Meyer seeing the boat in the distance.

Was pretty heartbreaking to see these strips on review after we'd raced to hand the film in with 15 minutes to spare.

Hey would love a few reviews on our film. This year we went mainly for technique and detail, we had decided to do a basic story and test our skills doing everything else.
Love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks for the review of my film ORANGES , R17, and the other fine reviewers.
R17, you in particular seemed to get it , but ,yes, I'm happy to let folk draw their own conclusions as to what was going on.

You are all very kind to complement the cinematography , while I only see the flaws, the soft shots here and there, you lot mostly focused on the positive .

Thanks for that.

I'm a little bemused by the reactions to the nudity.
Perhaps I've just been watching too many Joe Swanberg movies, but there was never a plan to shock or anything. Just figured , if you were going to depict someone having a bath, it would be very contrived to hide everything. It's certainly not gratuitous I would have thought.

Anyways, thanks again , I will endeavour to review a bunch of the films in the screening room when I get a chance . It might take a wee while to get the spare time to do it, so please bear with me.

2013 | Shooting And Cutting - Obsessive Relationship - "Oranges" (Writer/Shooter/Director/Actor/1 man team)
2012 | Sitting out this year. Producing a human kid instead.
2011 | Translucent Flexible Ducting - Musical/Dance - "The Row" (Writer/Lyricist/Director)
2010 | Squashed Pineapple Lump - Sex Ed Film - "Dig Deep,Dick" - DUNEDIN City Finalist- (Writer)
2009 | Wanaka Film Trust | - Horror - "Pick Up" - DUNEDIN City Finalist- (Writer/Actor/Director)
2008 | SuperNatural Productions - Buddy Film - "Silent Echo" (Co-Direct/Write/Shoot/Edit etc)

in reply to Thairocksuperstar:

You are welcome... wooohoooo! I got a review on my review :D I will just add a little re. the nudity now that I don't have the beer goggles on...

I think the main problem with the nudity (well in my eyes) was more a compositional thing... As I said in my review, I didn't even notice... my husband was distracted because it sort of popped in and out randomly (a little like occasionally having something popping on and off the edge of the screen - like a stray leaf/branch in a forest shot) which drew his attention to it... Actually I believe he was looking for it- the dirty bugger :p

I personally don't have any problems with nudity - male or female... and as you say its a bit silly and/or difficult to show a man in a bath without seeing something! You got guts to film yourself nude though! I am very impressed with that :D

Oh and thanks to all that have reviewed our film as well :) Nimlin... you gave me the warm fuzzies with yours :D
