Reviews?

Looks like the reviews site is down for 2016 films, and with the way things have gone this year I'm not too hopeful that it'll be up soon enough to get many reviews!
Is there enough interest in creating a reviews thread here, in the (mostly dead, but starting to revive) forum?
I hope at the very least MistaTeas will be posting his annual Chch reviews!

The 6th and 7th stars are actually negative values, so if you hate a film give it a 7.

One quick question....
Why are the stars out of 7? o_0

Because memes.
No, actually we had a 7-star rating for reviews last year as well - basically it's because 5 stars is too little to get a meaningful gradient (lots of 3 & 4 stars) and 10 (same as 5 + half stars) ends up with loads sitting in the middle. Research shows 7 is a happy medium (although 11 is also possible).

Nick I'm sure you've been asked this before, but I can't recall the answer - how do the averages work? I see a lot of films with one score on them with an average lower than that one score, for example, which seems odd.

in reply to Nick Burridge:

The end view is out of 5 so if you want to give 2 stars it's impossible...if we could do stars out of 10 it would be a lot easier....nothing else is out of 7 and it's a little confusing.

A request for the reviews site (sorry if I've missed it)

There used to be a "review the next film button" or a way to go back to the heat list on the last site, which was uber handy when reviewing more than one film. If possible to get it bak it would be awesome :)

2019 "The Drop" - Secret Identity - ULTRA SOLOish
2018 "Furry" - The Wish Movie - ULTRA DUO - Heat 3 runner up Audience Favourite
2017 "The Grove 2: Survival with a vengeance" - Survival ULTRA

I could've sworn I put in some kind of automated next-film system last year, but can't seem to find it! However, if you click on the heat number on a film's page (where you should land after posting a review) it should take you back to the listing for that heat, where you can then proceed to next film to review etc. Also reviewed films should be displayed as crossed out on that page too.
Let me know if what you're seeing doesn't match up with that!

Thanks Nick,

I just found the heat link (silly me) as I finished my last review for tonight.

The cross out does appear and everything is working fine!

Cheers

I have a question- haven't quite figured this out year but it seems everyone else has.

How you you do it so that after you post a comment it shows a list of the 48hour entries you have made? I have noticed some variations as well and I am very curious.

I did just figure out how to change my profile pic...

But Nick only This Is Spinal Tap can be rated out of 11 :)

Couple of questions: is it possible to get notifications when a film receives a review? I remember this from last year but can't see the option for this year. Also have you noticed the letter 'f' seems to be off a bit? In the reviews and the titles and team names. Or is everyone making the same typo on purpose just to mess with a pedant like me?

Once again I've been drawing a blank on some of the films in my heat as to what their about, and that has given me an idea. What if they got the same screenshots they use at the end of the heats to remind you which film is which and stuck them on the reviews. I only really need a screenshot so I can remember "Oh that's that film" and not the film from the other heat I went to or whatever.

Where do you mean Burt? Heat 1 is listed on the front page of the reviews site (as the heat is tonight), and here's a direct link to the Taranaki Heat 1 films.
