My team haven't posted ours yet, but I was happy to have a scene with 2 'strippers'. It's acting!

In fact, I expected our lead actress to get a Best Actress nom. but she didn't.

Thanks! We're still weirdly fond of Sceptre of MacGuffin, also I think Tilting at Windmills was a really sweet story and pretty well realised.

Watching Sceptre of MacGuffin on late night TV was the reason I entered in 2005.

I liked it. I thought the editing was great, I never felt any of the cuts, it just flowed so smoothly and felt very natural.

Nice work.

That was pretty damn good actually. Imagine them appearing in the thieve's house late at night back from their adventure. Give him a fright.

Don't tell anyone, but we swiped that, at least in part, from Spaced.

Were you one of the people who'd text me everytime it was on air? That's what happens when you include your cellphone number in a video I guess :)

As I mentioned on completely the wrong thread, I really enjoyed this film.

I think the main issue was that at the start the audience (including myself) was a bit unclear what sort of mood you were aiming for - i.e. whether it was intended to be a broad comedy or a sort of poignant and quirky thing, which it turned out to be, most effectively. So, viewed in isolation it works fine (I presume - at work and haven't rewatched it just now - which means I might be getting some of this wrong) but in the context of a Heat it's a bit trickier - the audience may go into the film expecting more balls on a wire...

How exactly you could signal the intended tone to the audience, well that's probably beyond my ability to figure out. In a Heat I think you can go full serious without ambiguity (but also, most likely, without reward), but your short is more difficult to position.
I wonder if a little actor-to-camera/voiceover "I will relate a curious tale" type intro might have helped set expectations?

Either that or the audience, as afficionados, just felt robbed when you missed the line.

I personally didn't have any problem with the mood, as long as it seems to all come together I don't try to define what it is. Then again, I'm not exactly known for liking the same movies as my peers, haha.

Line is at 1:27.
