Clunkiest compulsory line ever?

Don't know about the rest of you but I'm yet to hear a single natural sounding delivery of "not with that you're not!" that sounds like it actually belonged in the script and wasn't hammered in

We found it had a Shatner type sound to it

I only saw one heat this year but I can't think of any films where I felt "oh, yeah theres the line, again" as some previous years have felt.

It will always depend whether you try to integrate it or whether you try to make sure the judges hear that you have the line - just like saying "you're such a liar Morgan" or "stop lying Morgan" (which is the sort of thing we have been guilty of in the past)

To be fair, last year I saw about 85% of the films in Auckland and just seeing that many sleep deprived characters was really draining. So repetition would play a big part in my opinion, because you start to listen out for it specifically.

We tried to get clever with our second film and put the line into a letter (The line was "Wait a minute") that the character was reading. I thought it was good but you never know how others will react to it.

In many CHCH heats it was extremely evident as the audience sniggered every time it was delivered. Got a bit annoying...

Nothing this year was as bad as the constant, never-ceasing shots of alarm clocks from last year's insomnia-driven films.

Yeah, we did that too - along with 98% of the other teams :)

I was kind of hoping for the character this year to be narcoleptic to swing it the other way.

I almost feel like I'd put in an array of alarm clocks for them NOT to wake up to then. Just for kicks.

I think it's just one of those things. It's the one bit of dialogue we are all waiting to hear in the film and I imagine we all give that moment a mental tick and pull ourselves out of the moment (hopefully only briefly). It's like a Stan Lee cameo... no matter how they try to use him... it's still Stan Lee shitting up the scene ;)

The prop was a ball this year, I'm surprised at the lack of testicle shots/references and slightly disappointed.

Christchurch had a team make a child literally eat Hitler's testicle.

There was tons of it in Christchurch
and it was pretty much all lame.

For a moment I considered a school ball (prom) but then realised it was a setting not a prop.

lack of testicle shots

One Wellington team got two for the price of one by making the testicle both their ball AND their extreme close-up. It was jammed in a zipper at the time. Not good, I'm tellin' ya. My eyes will never be the same and sometimes it haunts me and just pops into my mind when I least expect it (like now, damn it).

Hmmm ... I see that they're in the running for best use of prop. I guess that's valid given the image is seared on my brain.

There was also a finding Hitlers testicle one. Now that's a strange recurring theme.......

One of the teams in Auckland heat 6 Fleet Street had a closeup on the scrotum of one of their leads. Hooked up on a barbed wire fence and bleeding badly. It was expected/unexpected.

My short features Hitler, but no testicles.

I watched one last night where it worked really really well it was from the people who teamed up who had been doing this comp for 7 years and 10 years, when the mother said it I was impressed
I might of seen two more that I liked where I don't even remember hearing the line so either it was so good and natral that I missed it or they missed it.
