Cameras 2014
I guess the horse has bolted on this a bit but I'm sitting on the train so why not...
You can shoot a short on anything and people do I guess - from smartphones to pro production cameras. And yes, yes, the camera doesn't make the film, all too true. Bottom line this is a bit of a camera geek thread because you can certainly make a great looking film with e.g. a 550D and 50mm 1.8, or less.
But I suspect a lot of competitors will fall into the DSLR (and likely Canon) type middle range, and also possess a hankering for gadgetry. We have to type this stuff on the hand in forms but I've never seen the stats - curious about that.
Anyway, for the DSLR level enthusiastic amateur types, there's a bit going on in the camera market at the moment - Canon seem to be sitting fairly still while micro 4/3s are getting more interesting, Black Magic is shaking things up, the GH4 and the new Sony (what's that, the 7s or something) look wicked, etc etc.
I'm a Canon user myself but primarily on the basis of Codec export quality, sound inputs etc was vaguely considering a trade in after this comp.
Wondering what others are thinking or doing....
