Huge congrats to Noise and Pictures! Great film guys. Great finals all round!
Moffilade were a pleasure as always! I really dug Gin Joints - 'Kids These Days' and Cinema in Decline's 'Have You Met My Sister?' Also super impressed by Colonial Tech's - 'Silver Leaf' can't wait to see what's in store from you guys next year!

I still think seeing your film playing the embassy to a full house is the biggest buzz/prize in the comp for me.

Thank Toxie!

LOVED 'Brains?' by Noise and Picture! I really hope you guys take out the Grand Final! Never laughed so hard.

What a great night! Very overwhelming and like Toxie said it's such an amazing experience to have your own film play at the Embassy. Unbelievable!

So many great films and filmmakers! Can't wait to watch them again in the screening room once they're allowed up.

Brains? made my evening - very entertaining, well-made, well-acted, creative reversal on the zombie/horror genre, who would've thought you could get so emotionally attached to a group (PACK!) of zombies!?

Lots of good stuff throughout the films, some great one-liners ("Nein...nein...rammstein....." / "Looks like I just rained on his parade" / "Quick, form a pack!") and generally all round entertaining evening.

Even the Best Worst (Dive Dive Dance!) was great!

Congrats to all involved.

Totally agree. Brains? had me in stitches the whole way through. Definitely one of the best 48 hour films ever.

Big congratulations to Puppyguts for winning best cinematography. The prize was well deserved. Your film had consistently good looking images that totally served and enhanced the story. Nice one.

Another stand out for me was Cinema in Decline's "Have you met my sister." Wow! is all I can say.

The highlights for me were Gin Joints and Moffilaide's films, as well as the final scenes of Crepe shoot and Colonial Tech's films.

But of course "Brains?" by Noise and Pictures owned the night. Incredible makeup, acting and writing. As the film played, it was like waves of laughter all the way through - when the laffs died down from one joke, another would hit and it would start all over again. The subtitles were a genius touch, because not one joke was able to be drowned out by the laughter.
When it finished, I wondered what poor buggers were going to have to follow it - turns out I was one of those buggers.

My fave was actually Cinema in Decline's "Have You Met My Sister?" - I thought it was a great One Shot and deserved to be in the top three.

Wasn't a big fan of either animation (and I say that as a huge animation fan), but the audience around me clearly thought otherwise...

Was really great being at the Welly final and not worrying about anything.

Since I haven't been there before for the V48, I was somewhat curious about the sound.. films that sounded fine to me back in AK like 'End of Saga' sounded shit at the Embassy.

I know things are hard wired like crazy at places like that but the 48 is one night that you need to have some flexibility with EQ. Was it just me or did the sound mainly come from the centre?

It wasn't poor throughout but there were some shorts that were breaking up under volume. Some said that Readings sounded superb so I'm wondering what the issue was.

in reply to Ant Timpson:

Yeah it's a real shame because in the City finals I couldn't hear most of the dialogue in 'End of Saga' but I could when it played in the Heat at Readings :(

Massive thanks from Noise and Pictures for a great night at the finals and to everyone for their kind comments! It was a real honour to be in a pool of such great finalists: Fetus 5000 was incredible; Kids These Days cracked me up and was such a good crime film (really loved Intervention from last year too btw); the Moffilaide guys need a TV show or something to exploit their consistent talent; Nick of Time was awesome; Have You Met My Sister kept surprising and delighting all the way through their one shot; and the list goes on! Great to see Steelpotato getting an award too. Go Wellington!
