Congrats, everyone!
Sad that CHCH wasn't more thoroughly represented,
but the two choices were magnificent specimens.

The Auckland leg of this competition must be on a different level,
which I guess makes sense considering they're practically an order of magnitude more populated
than any of the other cities in the competition.

2013 - Robocrop - "The Price of Pilsner" Horror

I can't help but agree in that I don't quite think Christchurch has the representation it deserves in the Nationals this year, considering how many amazing films there were!

With the likes of TBALC, The Gentlemens Agreement (my personal favourite), Strang Entertainment, Squint Eastwood and Zebra Crossing all in competition with awesome films this year I wouldn't have picked the Outwits and Picton Pictures to represent Christchurch.

Then again I've only seen the films once and am sure the judges are more qualified than I to make these decisions. Good luck!

At least Chch got to represent their region. It is now 2 years in a row that the Dunedin region hasn't been included in the grand finals, which is a shame coz it's a national competition... you'd hope every region would be able to have a team to represent them. Dunedin had some really great films too. Still a few of us from down south are going up to auckland to see the grand finals and support NZ films. Excited :)

I'm sure it's tough to feel shut out, but the only way to guarantee a place in the finals is for Dunedin teams to make better shorts. I'm completely certain that Auckland or Wellington could be shut out as well, if they didn't have so many teams making such great shorts. That's really the only thing that matters, ultimately.

yeah we understand that too. I am from the team the won the Dunedin finals and although we knew going into the nationals we'll be going up against some really really really great teams, there's always that hope that if you made it through your heats and your finals that 'maybe' you could make it into the grand finals... but we're still stoked we made it this far and most of our team are going to Auckland to see all the finalists and cheer them on, meet some other crews and see some awesome films. Can't wait for next year!

Well done to all the finalists - couldn't be happier retiring to such a strong contingent of Hamilton/Taranaki films across the nominations this year - good luck everyone and I'll see you at the finals!

Hey Ant (or someone that may know),
Was wondering, if you are a nominated team, with a few nominations for catergories, does that mean 5 doubles passes for teams, AS WELL as 2 double passes for the other catergories?

Was just wondering as a few of us have bought tickets alreadly, and I'm unsure as to whether the seats are allocated for filming purposes, and award receiveing purposes if you understand my meaning.

Hayley
P.S. This comp is amazing. You are amazing... thank you so very much for having this comp available to us all.

Did it myself:) Made prosthetics for it too!
Didn't sleep for over 24 hours for it, but then again, I love doing that type of make-up, and everyone in our team put all their energy and hardwork into making our film. We all did amazingly well, and so proud of Noise and Pictures.

She sure is amazing. Amazing work (obvious to all) and so incredibly lovely to work with! That's Hayley's house we messed up in the film. I encourage you all to hire Hayley Marlow for your films and pay her lots of money. Then just let her get on with it, 'cause she really knows what she's doing.
