Good luck to the rest of the country because the Auckland finals last night were outstanding.
Every year I think the standard has to reached some sort of plateau and every year the standard goes up.
We need to start seeing more of these teams on TV.
What a great competition.
Fuck the goody bags.

can't say too much but there were definately cuts in there

I didn't notice any, but even if they were a one-shot film doesn't have to be entirely without edits it just has to appear to be one shot. Cleverly hidden edits are pretty standard with the "genre".

Interested to see that with the exception of ADHDMi for Sexiest Looking Short, none of the winning films won any of the individual award categories. Obviously in each case the whole was greater than the sum of the parts!

Congrats to all last night, some amazing films on display!
My reliable sources tell me that Lense Flare had one clever cut only. Who cares if they had a dozen cuts? One-shot doesn't have to mean one-take.
I thought they did a great job and deserved to win.

2006 - Brokeback Mount Doom - Auckland Finalist
2005 - Disputed Epidemic - Disqualified (late)

And here's hoping the finalists from Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin can match the standard set so far.

I can't seem to find the grand final on the edge site, even though front page here says tickets will be available from May 27th. User error on my part or ... ?
