after handing it in late, we're just glad that it got a good response in the theatre... we've always enjoyed making people laugh and to that end, this year's entry was the most successful by far...

but really did think the dudes from Half Shell deserved more credit.

really? on what grounds? personally i thought via it's own mediocrity it was the least enjoyable short of the evening.

at least some of the less polished shorts had a charm to them, but half-shells ok-ness was just outright boring in my opinion.

i really don't get why everyone is bagging on haynsfilm? the three shorts that placed are the three shorts that deserved to place - hands down.

and if it's worth anything at all to you michael, i really enjoyed your short a lot :)

Seriously? The Audience choice is where the audience picks who they liked ... so how did you feel let down or misinterpret this? At least 48 hour competition restricts the amount of people that can come along per team ... well as much as they can... so not sure why you are having a cyber cry over this!?

Personally I find it impossible to believe that Idiotvision wasn't the top choice of yours. It was by far the most well rounded film out of the bunch and they made the most out of having the limitations of one room.

What explanation are you wanting? Why the audience didn't vote for your film? Personally I liked aspects of your film but as a whole it wasn't even in my top 5. I did laugh at some of your jokes but the story itself was lacking and it most definitely had a few cringe moments!

Also I think you are missing the point that this isn't the 48hour comedy festival ... saying "entertaining" is the criteria you voted on is strange to say the least.

But each to there own.

The way forums work is that people read comments and respond fyi. The fact that 3 pages later he appologised didn't change the fact that I responded to his cyber cry.

At the end of the day heat 9 was tough and spot 3 could of gone a few ways in my opinion.

PS here is a hint.

If you are going to troll, don't tell everyone you are trolling.

Because as soon as you do you stop being a troll and then just a lame spammer.

Wow, didn't expect our film to be so polarising. I'm actually in the Haynes boat, thought they were rightfully in the top 3.

Sorry you thought it was mediocre c0ina, each to their own. People laughed at the right moments, so that's all I was worried about. Still proud of the team and our effort, certainly better than previous years and I'm sure next year we'll be even better.

Anyway, I'm proud just to be part of the great heat 9 this year, and the best teams definitely won.

Cheers,
Brendon

PS: Re the whole crediting issue mentioned in our reviews, sorry about that. I actually had nothing to do with the credits, and didn't pay much attention to them at 5.30 on Sunday. Certainly don't think I deserve credit over anybody else in the team, as they all did a fantastic job - especially the costume team, I mean we had like 20 costume changes! But yeah, my name was up there far too many times and I really don't feel great about it. Lesson learnt.

oh i laughed in some places too! i just didn't feel like it came to much of a whole and found the black and white/color thing really confusing and without purpose. it didn't add anything imo and i just felt like it detracted from an already ho-hum story.

but who am i to talk about story this year ;)

beer at the finals?

Hi Michael

No need to apologise for just stating what you thought. I didn't help by making a joke that went pear shaped either. Full props for coming on and using your real name, unlike some sinister people with friends on the inside. Curse those insiders!

All sweet Michael.. glad you had fun.

Cheers
Ant

Apologies to you, clearly I had blurred vision from misleading comments. Just to clarify I love this event really enjoy it and appreciate all the hard work you do in organising it. I feel a little embarrassed for having a pop at you in a hot headed moment.

I just want to say I was knocked out by some of the teen teams this year who really lifted their game and kicked some of these old boys club members to the curb!

If there was a tagline this year like all good sequels, it would be

Yeah we were a bit hamstrung by the rom-com genre and trying to make something that people understood, so we went with something pretty cliched in the end.

The black and white thing was actually a way for us to use all the great dancers we had in the team, but we didn't have the time to shoot the scenes that would've had it make more sense. I actually was worried if it would make sense at all, and clearly it was 50/50.

But yeah, further proof that story is king in this comp.

Definitely keen for that beer, already got my ticket!
