I don't understand what went on here guys? Cute idea with the shadow puppets and cute story but bad execution. What was with the random cutaway shots of flowers? Did it add to the story? I get that they were metaphorical but it didn't add any extra interest. And integrating the ball with the use of a picture? Shadow puppets were cute, but I got bored to be honest.

It tickles me to see another team attempt puppetry, and 'The Tale of Sir Foster's Wife' is a film I enjoyed more for the style than anything else. The story appears to closely follow 'The Marriage of Sir Gawain', a medieval ballad about what women want. While there was a disclaimer at the beginning that it was an adaptation, and despite the story itself not being subject to copyright, following a story or myth so closely feels against the spirit of the competition. The shadow puppets were delightful, despite the film overall seeming a bit dragged out, but the cutaway to the live-action flowers were disjointed and the metaphor didn't work very well. I enjoyed the story itself but a few shorter editing choices might have made it better, not to mention better framing on the shadow puppets. Nonetheless, it was a brave thing to do and I hope to see more puppets from them in future!

I found the story to be engaging. Although the novelty of the shadow puppets didn't really do very much for me, the storybook feel and execution of the tale worked very well. The live footage added to the feel of the story, regardless of subject matter, and in my view bumped it up a star or two. Reminded me of the odd illustrations that you would find in story books which didn't necessary relate to what was going on, but nevertheless enriched the reading.

Right from the get go, I was quite excited for this puppetry piece. It's something you don't often see in the 48, and when done well it can portray a rather unique perspective. I think this film started off quite strong, but ended up getting lost in it's own story. The narration needed a little more energy I thought, as did the whole film. A little too slow paced for my liking. Still, you guys took a gamble in trying something different and good on you for doing so. A really brave effort guys.
