I found my attention wavering here....it seems unkind to say, but this film fell in the middle ground between being good enough to be interesting and bad enough to be funny, and just ending up being a little boring. Sorry guys.

Totally got what this was going for but it kind of missed the mark. Just thinking about the twist for a second renders it nonsensical. I got a few laughs out of the over-the-top detective!

I got the story, but it did not grab me. Some entries were so well made that sadly , this movie went down the bottom. Also, I did not get why Nicky Brick was unlucky.

Great to see intelligent subtlety used in this first effort film. Leaves you thinking about who did what and when. Well done

This short unfortunately was a bit of a fizzer. The script was over written, the pauses between lines were big enough to put another short in there, the acting was average, and the film itself seemed to lack any real ingenuity. It was alas predictable and formulaic and seemed to be taking the piss of the genre ... but I am just not sure that was actually the intent. Sorry to be so brutal, but I just think they missed the mark.

The problem with any murder mystery is the twist needs to be really strong. Its seemed that a lot of time was spent developing characters that weren't relevant to the plot, making it fall short.

My attention wavered at some point in this so I've no idea how it finished, apart from an uncomfortable lesbian moment in a lift. The tone was off, felt like one person in the group thought it was a comedy while everyone else went for drama. It made me smile as I could see it was the teams first attempt, and most of the cast looked like they were wearing their parents clothes. It's also painfully obvious that Critic1 is a member of this group ;-)

Films like this are partly why I love the 48Hours. Apparently this is a first-time entry and I'm guessing it's also a high school team. What I like about it is that there are genre conventions that the filmmakers clearly understand - but they lack the experience to execute them with aplomb. They story makes sense - but it dragged, and the resolution really wasn't clear - except that somehow the cop and the lesbian art teacher were in cahoots and presumably behind the murder. (Sorry - spoiler alert) Also, I know it's the 48Hours and all, but seeing kids play adults is distracting and as Alan pointed out it looked like they were playing dress-ups in Mum and Dad's clothes. I'd much prefer to see teenagers playing teenagers - have a look at last year's Twilight pisstake by team Slurpedo for a good example of this (it's in the Screening Room, they were Auckland finalists). All that said, I think back to idiotvision's first ever entry and I reckon by comparison you guys deserve high-fives all round. Keep making stuff. See you next year.
