What a wonderfully daring exercise to go for poignancy in a 48hr film! While there was a fair amount of wooden acting and editing issues - enough anyway to prevent it from being a film I could really sink my teeth into - the bones of the film and the ideas were all there. I felt they were strong and certainly powerful for a film constructed in such little time.

Only a couple of major plot holes kept this film from being a top contender for me. Firstly I couldn't understand why the road trip was proposed or agreed to, although once underway it was executed very well and the team demonstrated a great understanding and handling of their genre. Then what promised to be a very good ending was spoiled slightly by a lack of logic. It was almost as if the final scene was scripted without consideration of the filming location (a confusingly long distance from the road). Then—perhaps with the deadline looming—the decision was made to just run with it? Anyway, I thought the acting performances were a little mixed in places but on the whole quite solid. Certainly true to its genre, and a very good story arc that only barely missed out on a great finish.

My pick of the heat - although the opening scene seemed a little out of place. How did they manage such good sound out on the open road I wonder? Great cinematography and good acting by the two leads.

After a young couple break-up the father goes to visit the ex and invites him to attend a road trip with him. Although reluctant at first, our lead turns up in the morning and away they go! The father has a bigger plan for taking the trip - he's carrying the ashes of Bobby Young, and wants to put the guy to rest. They drive, pee and talk and then repeat before making it too their destination. They also get passed by some very fast bikes! There are some nice morals towards the end and then a bizarre ending! For the most part nicely filmed although it seemed over-exposed at times. As has been mentioned, the reason for taking the younger man on the trip is never really jusified anywhere. The dialogue is a bit stunted at times and it got a little dull. The ending is just odd - why the hell did he run off and where was he hoping to go?

I liked this film. Desipite having some confusing plot aspects, for a road movie it was done well. Some nice play with light created reminiscence of sorts. Good sound work in parts, had wanted the end to be different.

I liked this film. Wasn't the end meant to suggest that even dead, Bobby managed to drive his friend away from him one more time kind of idea? If it was the intention, I think it was indeed a clever ending.

I like this film. It moved well, and once the road trip was underway really flowed well. The lead actor (the girls flatmate or father?) was good, quite moving. Thought the other actor also did a great job. Ending was a bit weird, but so nearly there. Some beautiful cinematography and it achieved quite a bit in a short time. I'd suggest next time less time on the script, and get more takes for pacing and editing.
