Really bad use of genre. honestly. nice idea though but... come on, don't sit in your room and film yourself for 5hours.

Yes, I know it's unfair to review my own work, but fie to that. I think it would have been a lot better if we'd had time to add the score, and make the typewriter go 'ding' at the end of the film, during the freeze frame, but I was pleased with the movie anyway. And it was fun making it. Very proud of my team.

Nice look to the film, I don't think it was a bad use of genre, but could have been a bit scarier. Too much was talked about instead of shown. Film is a visual medium. Nice feel overall though despite a few clumsy lines that bordered on humour and felt out of place for the story. My big gripe was that you kept saying the title of the film 1000 times in it.

Really great short! wouldve got my vote had it be eligible. very stylistic, and had some quite slick / seemless moves in it. well done guys.

Cant see where the "Really bad use of genre" came from... or why a film shot in one room has to automatically be bad, especially given not all teams have access to thousands of dollars.. but anyway on to the review: I thought the cinematography and lighting were both good, some of the shots on the typewriter with the shallow DoF etc... overall, i'd definitely watch it again its great to see that DGFN is getting much better every year they compete! hope you get it in on time next year and keep up the good work!

There is another movie out in movie land, which has this exact scene I am completely sure of that. Unoriginal and a good example of filmmakers taking themselves and the v48hours, far to seriously once again. We should have all learnt that from last year.

Nicely shot and lit and I really liked the shot around the writer to his hand holding the gun, maybe a bit too serious (but that's just me). A bit obvious I thought.

Let me start by saying this film was not bad, in fact, it was almost very good. The cinematography was nice, the mood and lighting well achieved, and the acting wasn't bad. I did however feel that it suffered from a case of bad casting which made it seem far more pretentious than perhaps was intended. Most of the time, a script has to be read very carefully and avoid poetic and overly complicated wording so that you don't come across as alienating the audience like a sign card that says "Ha Ha I'm smarter than you." Casting an older, wizened actor who really has that look of being world-weary and a bit eccentric would have helped by miles, as opposed to your mid-20s looking actor with healthy rosy cheeks who didn't look like he'd really had time to suffer that much, and instead of world-weary writer, we ended up with the portrayal of a pretentious, angsty university student. I know casting is hard, and writing a good script is harder, let alone getting actors with an ability to breathe life into the words, but with such an emotional piece like this one, it was really important to get just the right person in that role, which unfortunately didn't happen. Some of the dramatic pauses were a bit too long, and the whole thing could have benefited from a bit of a trim. The room and props were a little off to me as well, it didn't give me that typewriter-era feel to it. I expected a low, cone-shaped lamp hanging from the ceiling and cigarette smoke adding atmosphere. I looked around a bit and it seemed more of a modern setting with the typewriter thrown in for dramatic effect. That being said, the imagery was lovely, the story was solid and the ending was well filmed if a bit obvious. Overall, a good job!

This would have had my vote if not DQ'd. Very dark, but I found it thought provoking and surprising. Cool.

This serious film of a writer who was haunted by his characters was really well done and I think it is a shame they were DQ'd. I thought the lighting and scenes were well constructed and I loved the final single shot transition - very nicely done and not obvious. I thought you used the line well in this film and even though an older main character would have given a bit more realism to the role there is also no reason why it couldn't have been a successful younger writer. I thought the acting from all involved was good but I didn't find it particularly scary, but thats not exactly a pre-requisite for a horror but it can be good to shake people up a bit. Great effort and hopefully next years will be eligible so I can vote for it.

Beautifully shot and very clever with the concept. Good job acting out the tormented writer, it drew me in to the whole story. Most of all, thank you for all the wonderful and positive reviews given on this website, would love to have coffee sometime.

Hard to do a serious film in 48 hours. It's hard enough to achieve any character you care about in a 7 minute film regardless even with unlimited time on your side, so trying this in such a short space of time often comes off as too earnest and lacks depth. That being said, you did achieve a cool mood and there was some good story in there, but the dialogue wandered a bit too much for me. But great work guys!
