My suggestion of idea is not how 'brutal the rationalizations of 'idea' is required to be'
I do not believe that anything about my entry was a 'Frankensteinian aphorism', it was simply a breakdown of the film to an idea level, as I see it. It may be a lot different to what they intended, but it is my reading. Sure its brief, but then again an idea is brief.
An idea is a spark, little more. A powerful spark that hopefully ignites the imagination. In this context its often verbalised at a meeting, cannibalised by others, reformed into a different shape and finalised into something a story can be written on.
If your concept of "an idea" is more complicated than mine, so be it.
Ideas are always Frankensteinian.
All of your ideas, all of mine, virtually all of everyone I can imagine, have their origins in something else that I, you, whoever, has seen, heard or sensed. Da Vinci was simply building (impressively) on previous knowledge and ideas.
Once the monster has been created it cannot be controlled. Where it goes and what it does is almost always out of control of the creator.
When Spielberg made the film 'Jaws' he was building on what already existed. He took what existed and developed it, and subsequently it has influenced people and thinking in ways that he cannot control.
