Are all the grand finalists eligible for the various prizes ie best Cinematography Or only the ones nominated for that category in the city finals?

How the hell did Chatter not get through! I was picking that to win the whole thing! If that's the standard then I'm impressed.

I reserved judgement on the dunedin winner "Chatter" not getting through to the grand final until I saw the quality of the films that had made it. But now its time for my rant.
There were some excellent films in the final and I think "chatter" may not have claimed the grand prize. But there were also some Good, but not amazing films.
A 7 minute film that was based around a 1 minute joke on Masturbation. A Musical that while it had some nice camerawork and some amazing songs had average acting and a very basic story line and a story about kite flying that again had some beautiful shots but dragged in places and should have been 4 minutes long instead of 7.
I am not biased, because I have nothing to do with team "Rabies Babies", but to see a team that has competed for 5 years, working their bums off and improving every year, to finally take the Dunedin city final and then be denied a spot in the grand finals by films that are no where near as good, makes me wonder whether I want to put my $200 entry fee into something else net year.
And gripe number 2: We are all given key elements at the start of the competition that have to be included. This year we had a character "Bobby Young" who was an EX-bully.
Most teams went to great lengths to figure out a clever way of defining that character as an EX bully.
So how can the winners of the whole competition get away with not obeying this rule? Their Bobby young beat up and hospitalised the main character at the end of the film. This is a Bully, not an EX Bully. Play by the rules fellas.

Well, hopefully "Chatter" will be posted in the Screening Room soon so we can have a look. In the judges opinions the finalists were better and that's just the way it goes. The process was pretty clear this year in regards to the Grand Finalist selection so if you don't like it, don't enter really. Lot's of teams and their supporters get disappointed.

CHATTER is on the telly tonight, as is CHILD JUMPERS. So we can all make our judgements then.

Assume that is our film you are talking about "Well Strung" - Well we won best Actors against some stiff competition so think that is a little off base.
Somehow between Taranaki and Auckland our film went from 1080P to standard def - was quite disappointed... think it was at the Taranaki management end. Was really looking forward to seeing it on the big screen in HD.

uh, gotta disagree with you on this. The implication at the end was the injuries the main character sustained were from his excessive Chumping of Bobby, not that Bobby was trying to exact some sort of violent revenge. I think Booby seemed suitably caught off-guard and gave chase but was chumped at every turn.

Hey Ed, so how much did it cost you to license that sample from Billie Jean?

Really cool that you found royalty or copyright free Michael Jackson music, I didn't know that would exist for at least another 80 years. I guess your sources will be in your credits, so I look forward to seeing where you got it, must be a great library.
