That's very kind of you. I am pretty confident that the reality of the situation would be a little less so. The last thing the world needs is me (Director) in the superhero tights of our film.

There's a reason they keep me behind the camera. ;-)

Wasn't the Butterfly third in the audience favourite vote for heat 9? If so, how can it be nominated for best disqualified short?

It was disqualified during judging. With the number of films submitted this year we didn't get a chance to go through everything with a fine-tooth comb prior to heats as we have previously.

YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm beyond stoked that my boy is up for best actor. I thought he was amazing... but I'm his Dad so i'm not exactly objective. I'm over the moon that somebody else was impressed by him.

I know that I don't speak fluent kiwi, but what exactly does this mean (from the regional prizes list):

"Runner Ups get complimentary membership to the Guild to all the nominees for the acting awards in all of the centres."

Does that mean I'm now a father of a certified Guild Actor? Sweet!

Now that is one mystifyingly ambiguous sentence. I'll try to find out what the heck it means by the time the finals roll around.

Oh gutted. I didn't get to see your film at the screenings so it would have been a nice surprise if you turned up in them! Guess I'll watch it in the screening room if it's there?! Then I'll wait for the 15th... lol

in reply to Big Kahuna:

"The Butterfly" was our film and we received a disqualification email five days after its screening.
They told us that the character and prop were not in the film even though all compulsory elements were incorporated in a subtle way.
The film has therefore been pulled from competition because these elements were not obvious to the judges.
Unfortunately in this competition there is no negotiation

Arse..... no place in the finals this year - well done to all that made it!

esp the sweetly told (one room) teens 'the crazy horses' for their sweetly romantic tale - watch out for them! also to one-man whirlwind Timaruvian William Blisset with the plane, piano and very clever fingers.

We up for score/make up/ costumes and art direction so they liked the way it sounded, looked and the research.

We losing half of our team to the mighty blighty week after the final :-( Boo) Five years of laughs dudes/ettes....

- hopefully resurrect ourselves for next year and can't wait to have a personal marathon of this tears besties
