If you live outside one of the 7 City centres you can still compete.
Register NOW as an "out of town" team and you could win party supplies!
We realise that "out of town" teams don't get to enjoy all the excitement of the Sunday 7pm hand-in like your fellow in-city participants do.
So we would like to show you a little love by shouting some food & drinks to ONE selected team from of the SEVEN regions around NZ. One random team will be picked to have wrap party supplies delivered (to one nominated address) so your cast and crew can dwell on the madness of your 48HOURS shoot!
And Rialto Channel will throw in 1 MONTH OF THEIR CHANNEL FOR FREE. (you'll need SkyTV already).
The 7 winning "out of town" teams will be announced on April 30. Registrations close April 27. Register now.

Breaking Press Release

National Film Competition Gets Plus Sized.

The long-running wildly popular filmmaking competition has just announced an additional incentive for those entering this year's challenge.

Now in it's 13th year the competition in conjunction with the New Zealand Film Commission setup a rolling devolved fund called 48+ that is a development programme to support the growth of untapped/unknown 48HOURS writers in the early stages of their career. The programme provides support from story concept through to first draft, and all the way through to potentially getting their script produced.

"The competition has proven to be a fertile incubator for new writing talent over the years. It's crucial for film NZ that good talent gets early support and that there's a pathway for worthy projects to be given a solid chance of reaching an audience." - Ant Timpson, 48HOURS creator

Through this development, 48+ will invest in talent in order to create New Zealand's next generation of savvy screenwriters and/or screenplays that meet and understand today's international marketplace.

This programme is unique in that it is tailored to each of the 48+ writers individual professional development needs. At its core, the programme is a flexible mentorship for four writer/ writer/directors per year that is shaped to their individual requirements.

Rialto Channel 48HOURS which is supported by Sir Peter Jackson has a track record of entrants going on to carve out successful careers in the film and television industries. Past winners include Taika (What We Do In The Shadows) Waititi, Gerard (Housebound) Johnstone, Downlow Concept (7 Days, Hounds).

Expressions of interest for the 48+ programme can be submitted now at the following address:
